The NBA is the only major American sports league not dominated by white men.. When you take that into account its over achieved...

The league is exploding around the world breh, you're only focusing on the growth here, NBA is about that exchange rate.

The NFL will never penetrate some of the markets the NBA currently is spitting game to :manny:
They are trying so hard for london and it will fail big time too.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
Yup. When Dirk retires, Germans aren't going to give a damn about the MAVS or the NBA either.

It's a myth that the "NBA" is popular overseas. Certain "players" are. Dudes making them one and the same. It's a shyt model. I've been saying this since 99 on the old site

Can't agree with this, way too many foreign prospects are starting to come into the league now for the game not to be popular around the world. Just having one dude in the league from a certain country will give the league itself exposure and help create a fanbase, Yao Ming ain't been in the league in 5 years and the NBA is by far the most popular league there. Sure not every country is going to latch onto the sport, but it's working in enough places that it's fair to say the NBA is the only global league of the American sports.

Look at Bogut/Patty Mills, they make it to the league and now we have Exum, Simmons and Thon Maker in the pipeline from Australia. All 3 of those guys are projected top 5 picks, with Thon already being crowed the top pick for 2017. That just isn't a coincidence, all that basketball without borders stuff is starting to pay off, we're even seeing prospects starting to come from places that typically aren't basketball hot beds (Brazil) . They make an international NBA league pass for a reason breh :manny:

I lived in Würzburg during the rise of Dirk and outside of that small community, Germans could give less than a damn about him. One town over the local soccer club superstar got more love. You're not seeing basketball courts or gyms with pick up games but you will see soccer fields damn near every other mile. Basketball isn't that big as people make it out to be. Trust me

You're comparing it to soccer though - the most popular sport in the world since forever. Compared to baseball and especially football, basketball has had the farthest and furthest reach as a sport. The league has inspired other countries to step up their commitment to the international game overall.

I agree man. Football is just way more compelling.

To whom? Americans? Football is completely irrelevant on the global scale. This isn't even arguable. The game has zero traction globally. Football is the state fair fried snickers bar of sports. Motherfukkers might do the cabbage patch when they see it in 'Murrica, but that shyt just seems stupid to other countries.

You're still not talking about league popularity. No doubt that as a sport, basketball naturally would have an easier road to being popular being that the game's simplicity makes it easier to process even for a novice of the game. But even with players coming from all over, I don't believe the NBA as a league isn't making inroads compared to its individual stars that are. It's almost like how baseball is modeled here in the states. People love their local teams more than they do the league overall. I don't see the league driving interest on the NBA itself.

:snoop: You sound like a liberal hack. The state fair of sports is a better product than basketball. The shyt is boring and has been "branding" on it's global impact for damn near a decade. I don't really care on who enjoys the sport. I have no problems that the bulk of American football fans are most likely racist southerners. That's really the problem here is accepting that you might have similar tastes. It is what it is breh. Basketball is a distant 3rd in this country and will continue to slide because it's boring.

I don't even understand why they are trying. Outside of pure greed it's silly. American football will not catch on in other places. They their own brand of football in soccer and a similar sport in Rugby.

Plus Rugby has more action and no pads. Football has more commercial breaks and walking around and doing nothing.

I agree with Whitlock. I've hated how the league has been managed post jordan. I hate that there is a team in okc and not seattle. Just seems odd. Its too many teams in general.

I also agree with the college stuff. Its not about whats fair, its about whats best for the league. Kids going to college for 2yrs would help the nba product. Imo

The cap situation is atrocious. Individual salaries should not be capped. Cap what a team's payroll, but allow them to offer superstars whatever the market dictates.

I have more issues, like allowing these refs with huge egos to ruin the gm and basically covering up the fact that refs have purposely decided outcomes of games

I'm deigning to indulge your lame, troll ass for once. Don't bore me with stupid shyt like this.

In your opinion. but the thread conversation at this point isn't about what sport you personally enjoy more. We're talking about the global scale, and no one gives a fukk about football on the global scale. Period. All that other shyt you can save for some poster with the lack of self-respect or self-restraint to go back and forth with you.

We can argue which one is better to watch. For the most part American football fans view Rugby as more action packed and Rugby fans view American football as more action packed. Both group of fans suffer from not fully understanding the rules and that's a culture block.

:patrice: So in other words :umad:....Go write for bleacherreport or something you latte drinkin p*ssy. Better product overall. Global impact overstated. Games barely sold out in the U.S. until playoffs and even then it's :dead: until the conference finals.

I think american football is about the strategy more then anything imo. I mean even football fans will like offense more because it's visually appealing.
