the nba is physical too...

skills wise a lot of those cats that skipped college needed literally years of polish before they performed well...including the coli favorite kobe

none that i can remember other lebron wouldnt have benefited from college
But they can survive in the NBA while they figure things out. In the NFL, they'd get eaten alive.

Are people still going on with this thug narrative to describe today's NBA players? That possibly can't be the reason why people don't like The NBA because The NFL is more thugged out than The NBA. Basketball is the closest thing to Soccer as a global sport.

Basketball is more about the individual than football. Since it focuses so much more on the individual I am not surprised white people don't like it as much as football where they can focus on the team concept.

Its not a "narrative" when every NBA article has the word thug mentioned every other comment. Cacs see the NBA as the thug league even tho NFL got way more players commiting crimes and NBA players are dressing more like hipsters than rappers nowadays. Obv the reason they see it this way doesnt need to be said :yeshrug:

Are we really use internet comments as the standard sentiment for The NBA? You take internet comments on anything with a grain of fukking salt.

This is part of it too and it doesnt help when the face of the league is hated way more than he's liked. Lebron and the Heat's dominance hurts the league more than it helps. Might sound like Im being salty but tell me Im wrong :usure:

Highly visible, tatted up young black men making millions is usually the recipe for extreme hatred.

Dudes like Whitlock don't seem to understand Stern knows the sport can never rival the NFL here, but the game is being devoured around the world right now.

3 of the top 5 picks in this years draft will have been born outside the US :wow:

Guys like Kobe and Lebron get mad love in other parts of the world and especially in places like Japan, China, and even North Korea.

That's because no sport more closely mirrors the myths, obsessions, and insanities of our mainstream culture than football. It's so specifically American; shyt really has zero universal appeal.

nfl is only the number 1 sport in one country america

even in canada the cfl>>>>>>>nfl

Completely different level of physicality. Kids would not survive in the NFL if they came out at 19.

i think for both leagues there should be a "exceptional" status

up here in canada in junior hockey exceptional status basically players could apply to enter the league a year early and if they were to meet the criteria set forth by the league and Hockey Canada to ensure the player was ready to enter the league they are allowed to.

It’s not just hockey that the panel focuses on as academic documentation and assessments of the players physical and mental maturity are also a very large part of the consideration in the process of reaching a decision. According to the Ontario Hockey Federation the process is an extensive evaluation of all aspects of the player’s life and not just a hockey decision.

Reportedly, another big part of the evaluation is whether the player would be the top overall selection, how they handle pressure, if they’re willing to report to where they’re chosen and if the team possessing the top pick would commit to selecting him.

so to me a player of lebrons skill level would nt have to wastehis time a year in college if he passes the tests etc. and has shown himself to be a high draft pick so you don't have the korleone youngs of the world etc.

same with the nfl dudes like sammy watkins and clowney were ready
