This hack has no business having a job. He's posted another column with the tagline of pride shouldn't matter, I assume in regards to playing for Dan Gilbert (I refuse to click on it and give him a hit out of principle). Seriously, who in their right mind would pay this guy to write anything? I'd be bummed if he left regardless, but after the way Gilbert has acted the last 4 years, how can anyone condone it?

With nikkas getting gunned down by stray negs, how you come in here with no link? :dahell:

This is about discussion of a writer, not speculation. We all know Whitlock's agenda, especially when the tagline reads pride shouldn't matter. No link is a matter of principle of not clicking his article and giving him a hit. We all know what that article would say.

I agree with him on this one. Simple as that.

And the following is right on the money.

"Power and progress are grown-folks business. Foolish pride is a vanity cherished by the young and the dumb. False pride is an important cog in the undercurrent fueling acrimony and disharmony in the poor and working class. Pride causes Joe the Plumber to believe his natural ally is a corporate CEO rather than Marquis the Factory Worker."
This is great commentary, but, knowing Whitlock he completely misses the way Gilbert disrespected him.

It's like to co-sign prostitution--because, pride don't matter--and it'll get it you to a rich/powerful guys yacht party.

I hear he's trying to start the "black Grantland" :what:

and is recruiting writers but nooooo one wants to work with him.

he said on Simmons' podcast last summer that there are no black sportswriters :why:

and it's like ... how u trying to start a site full of black writers on some BET meets ESPN sh*t and have zero awareness of all the amazing writers there are?
nikka I could go on Twitter for 5 minutes and find more than enough writers to set up a black Grantland. The words out of this clown's mouth have me in a constant state of :mindblown:

What Whitlock ultimately says is "Its MOE, money over everything"

Which is the same stance he often criticizes hip hop culture for

I don't agree with anything you just wrote, save the first four words.

I'm just not interested in bad analogies and racial overtures. IF all of this stuff is true and he returns, LeBron and his boys are on the cusp of infusing billions of dollars into the areas they were born and raised. They gonna help a lotta kids that remind them of them. There are CONTRACTS being worked out, jobs being promised, commercial and residential development plans that Bron and his team will have a hand in. This is bigger than whatever damage you'd like to believe Gilbert did to LeBron with that letter. I bet Gilbert WISHES he hadn't written it, not because it was classless and incredibly unprofessional for someone of his stature in the business world, but because of the leverage it's given LeBron and his team. He pretty much has to say yes to EVERYTHING. He gotta make concessions. He want his golden goose back and the goose knows its worth.

I'm cool with whatever this guy decides, but I'd really like to implore some black folks to stop cutting off your noses to spite your faces. Gotta stop thinking like this.

Listening to nyggas talk about they pride is worse than watching a nygga not know how to use his pawns on a chessboard.

There's something to be said about respect.

Lebron can do all those things, himself, or with a handful of other willing participants. I would like "really like to implore some black folk" to stop feeling like we need the ppl who employ us.

As long as I've had a mature outlook on American society, I've understood ppl are afraid to speak truth to power.

There's something to be said about respect and how it's priceless is not mutual exclusive with financial success. Trust me, if pride was our biggest problem we'd atleast have each other.

Lebron James don't need the Cleveland Cavaliers, even the NBA, to improve Akron or Cleveland. Back to my "truth to power" statement; it isn't Lebron's responsiblity to fix an entire state's economy.

Listening to nyggas talk about they pride is worse than watching a nygga not know how to use his pawns on a chessboard.

That's the problem; Gilbert thought Lebron was just another one of his chess pieces, not a grown man.

@Basaglia I do think we get too hung up on pride but can LBJ use that same leverage to request a public apology at the King Returns press conference? I don't think we have to "sacrifice our pride" to get financial leverage. We do not have to do that and LeBron, as the golden goose, especially doesn't have to do that.

I also think it's a false binary to say that if we do one we can't do the other. LeBron can do all of the cash infusion you spoke of and ask that Gilbert publicly recuse himself from the sentiment of the letter. That's a situation that addresses the ills done, in both words and actions.

shyt, why you think Gilbert removed it from the Cavs website in the first place? I'm sure that had something to do with LeBron's pride and his wishes. Who lost any leverage as a result of it? Possibly Gilbert, but no one else.
