This my last word on this and then I'll leave y'all with your street corner/barbershop notions of "pride," because y'all really acting like his family was slaughtered or some shyt.

If Steve Jobs can take a 150 million "loan" from a guy he hated (and was hated by) and who stole from him (allegedly), because he knew the hit to his pride was a pittance compared to his ultimate goals, then the idea of LeBron saying "nah" to his plans for his city and his folks is ridiculous to me. It was a letter. WARS are fought and then nations are rebuilt with the aid of the muhfukkas who crippled them in the first place (and I'm not talking about occupations or colonization, so don't bother...I mean real wars).

As far as an apology...it's LeBron who has to receive it and accept it, not you.

It's not about what Gilbert gettin. This is about what LeBron and his team are gettin. This is Nike. This is Samsung. These are multi- bil...nygga, this is EARTH...these are companies that influence policy around the world and their dude just got his ass kicked in the finals...they need to REWRITE THE STORY. LeBron's "brand" can't have a better multi-platform marketing campaign than The Return right now. Not even New York would be bigger.

LeBron ain't a piece on Gilbert's board. If you think that, you haven't been paying attention...or you paying attention to the wrong shyt.

This hack has no business having a job. He's posted another column with the tagline of pride shouldn't matter, I assume in regards to playing for Dan Gilbert (I refuse to click on it and give him a hit out of principle). Seriously, who in their right mind would pay this guy to write anything? I'd be bummed if he left regardless, but after the way Gilbert has acted the last 4 years, how can anyone condone it?

How can anyone cosign the Heat (Micky Arison) though?

I don't know how street corner or barbershop that notion of pride is.

But maybe the word "pride" was wrong to use and a poor choice on my part. I mean dignity.

Just as generals and world leaders before them have swallowed their pride, generals and world leaders have offered apologies for line-stepping, for disrespectful language and actions. You're making decency/dignity and success mutually exclusive when that's too absolute to be true.

Believe, LeBron is a piece on Gilbert's "Board" or else he wouldn't have put out an angry letter in the first place. He wouldn't be pursuing LeBron if he didn't know specifically how much money and value LeBron earned for one of his companies. It's no pittance.

I don't need an apology from Gilbert nor do I think anyone but LeBron should care about it. I'm saying an apology and gaining leverage to make all of these power moves are not separate from each other.

I agree with him on this one. Simple as that.

And the following is right on the money.

"Power and progress are grown-folks business. Foolish pride is a vanity cherished by the young and the dumb. False pride is an important cog in the undercurrent fueling acrimony and disharmony in the poor and working class. Pride causes Joe the Plumber to believe his natural ally is a corporate CEO rather than Marquis the Factory Worker."

This is bullshyt. Hes going to get paid no matter where.

I just can't see, at this point in his career, LeBron wanting to become a mentor to some young players. Can't see him wanting to spend years of his prime teaching young players how win. Can't see him choosing to make money for a man who essentially called him 'property'. Can't see him playing for a city that burned his jersey and took to the radio airwaves to get as close as they could to calling him every racist name in the book.

Whitlock consistently misses the point in these discussions simply because he needs to force some shred of negative commentary on black folk in order to make people think he's reached some level of maturity or his value system is more sophisticated than the average black person in this country. Without that alleged "voice", who in the Detroit hell is Jason Whitlock? What unique perspective does he offer other than being the middle-aged somewhat hip-hop negro who is willing to throw his brothers and sisters under the bus to make a cheap point?

He doesn't have the courage to discuss these issues without the bomb-throwing because without it his writing is relatively bland.

LeBron and his decision on where to play basketball have zero to do with the cares, fears or concerns of black people at large. Period.

Whitlock is again suggesting we would like to read about him analyzing the smell of his own farts. Nah and FOH.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
Why is it any different taking less money to play for Riley and Mickey? Because he was with his friends? For his actual worth to the team and the league, he was lining that billionaires pockets for cents on the dollar. I just don't get the fake outrage about him going back to Cleveland or not, but if not, he should handle or should have handled it like a man, not the passive aggressive shyt that is going on. Fukk Riley and Mickey for letting that man play for less than he is worth, right?

On topic: Whitlock is still on that bullshyt; you really don't need to read it.

In any other situation I'd agree - pride has nothing to do with a business/career decision like this, and LeBron's choice has everything to do with his career. It has fukk-all to do with loyalty, and usually has little to do with pride.

But Gilbert completely disrespected LeBron in a situation where he should have kept his fukking mouth shut. Obviously LeBron didn't handle the Decision well, but the majority of that shyt was ESPN and the media trying to profit off of a naive kid, not some master scheme drummed up by James. And Gilbert certainly wasn't some naive kid, so he has no excuse for his Comic Sans diatribe.

LeBron going back to Cleveland would be the equivalent of returning to work for someone who spat on you; that has nothing to do with pride, and everything to do with a healthy work environment. Spoiled bytchy owner man-child ≠ healthy work environment. Going back would be giving Gilbert what he wants when he clearly doesn't deserve it.
People actually care who owns a team now? Is it more important than the "fans"?
