That if Barkley had been a free agent, he would have done the same thing. Barkley even forced trades so he could get to better teams.

But Williams didn't say free agency didn't exist, he said that Barkley and the other people complaining weren't free agents. If Barkley had an opportunity to sign outright with a top team to win a ring, he absolutely would have done it. Since he wasn't a free agent, he had to force trades to those teams. Williams is just pointing out that he's a hypocrite.
