Oh lovely, another thread with the same arguments.
:unimpressed:

All this talk about lack of effort and on threads man how about these dudes aren’t creative at ALL. Threader babies, they all make threads the same. Back then we had YungYoghort, Charmander, Thenigerian, burgerking, etc etc dudes with unique games. Tired of these aloof politically correct 2 dribble pull up thread ass nggas

I'm not even sure how this thread makes any sense when the game is essentially positionless now and players have more freedom to do more than they ever could.

They're no longer restricted by their positional roles.

I mean, one of the main critiques around Lamelo's play is that he tries to make a highlight play every possession.
Akhi I swear I’m convinced majority of the posters on here including me
Don’t really watch basketball like that anymore

Lamelo Ball plays different than Jokic, who plays different than Giannis, who plays different from Joel Embiid, who plays different than Kyrie. At this point it's like yall don't even watch basketball.

The soul of the game is (was) in point guards. I didn’t specify in the OP, but thats what I had in mind hence those examples.

Thats where the creativity comes. Also with PGs that’s who we think we can go outside and emulate. They’re the closest in size to fans. Embiid and Giannis ? :comeon:

If I were to show aliens the game of basketball to win them over, I’d show them a Nick van Exel highlight tape over Giannis or Embiid

Why watch two different teams miss 75 3s? It's the same game :deadrose:

You can come up with a great highlight reel from any season lol. There are plenty of current era NBA players who will give you nice highlights

1999-2000 had some interesting teams and a lot of boring or straight up garbage teams. No way in hell you are watching a random game from year 2000 like Hawks against Nuggets or something like that, just like you are not gonna watch current era's random games.

And why are you mentioning Rod Strickland with names like Francis, Jason Williams, etc. when Strickland by the year 2000 was past his prime playing for bottom of eastern conference Wizards.

You can find random old full games online, maybe some are still left on youtube and you would clearly see that it's a regular game with some flashes of cool stuff, yet you are acting like old games back then were on some AND1 street basketball shyt.

Giannis and Embiid are def aliens, but since you want PGs: Brunson, SGA, Haliburton, Cunningham, Steph, Luka, Fox all play different from each other. But this is just a "I wish things were how they were when I grew up" thread so I digress.

You would show a 6'1 post up and back you down guard over generational 7 foot freaks?

Please stop trying to sound like some wise oldhead. You sound like an idiot just making up vague nonsense

You say that like it's (only) a good thing. They traded the restrictions of positions for the restrictions of archetypes. There's no more slasher 2 guards, it's all 3&D wings. No hustle bigs, just stretch 4s.

Only "freedom" is now the best scorer always has the ball in their hands. The other 4 guys on the court are more restricted in what they can do than ever because most everybody is basing the entire game off what that one player is doing.

Whole league playing Bron Ball :troll:
