Giannis and Embiid are def aliens, but since you want PGs: Brunson, SGA, Haliburton, Cunningham, Steph, Luka, Fox all play different from each other. But this is just a "I wish things were how they were when I grew up" thread so I digress.

Steph is not new school. But I think you’re missing the point. I’m not only speaking to being “different” I’m speaking to creativity, uniqueness, flair. To ME. Yea Halliburton is different from Cade but they both boring. To ME.

Again nothing to do with how good they are, and obviously teams/players shouldnt care about being entertaining. Ie Marbury not as efficient but the way he would pound the rock and how he moved and how high he’d jump on his shot was….indelible

Put it this way: Players are way more efficient now but also less original. Dudes train on moves that other generations thought up out of thin air. They have names and tutorials for moves past players learned thru trial and error. Of COURSE it’s gona be different. It’s like turning a mom and pop to a chain restaurant :yeshrug:

This video is all the J dub highlights from that Rookie/Soph game

There was a lot of hype before it... Jwill being a sophomore, everybody was wondering what he'd do. I remember watching it in awe, he more than delivered.

Those Kings game were SO fun to watch. I never missed them when they were nationally televised. There's a good amount of mixtapes & clips on youtube, but I bet there's even more that hasn't necessarily made its way to modern youtube. He was doing flashy stuff every game.

You say that like it's (only) a good thing. They traded the restrictions of positions for the restrictions of archetypes. There's no more slasher 2 guards, it's all 3&D wings. No hustle bigs, just stretch 4s.

Only "freedom" is now the best scorer always has the ball in their hands. The other 4 guys on the court are more restricted in what they can do than ever because most everybody is basing the entire game off what that one player is doing.

Whole league playing Bron Ball :troll:

Exactly. And we are seeing this trickle down.

UConn wins 2 titles with big guards. So now teams are recruiting (signing) big guard lineups. Duke did it with Proctor and then signed Sion James a D end built ngga to be a 3&D guard.

On the flip think of all the old school UConn title winning PG’s/SG’s: Kemba :damn: Ben Gordon :scusthov: Khalid El Amin. Bruh…Khalid El Amin?!!! A 5’9 220 pound PG! :dead: There was room for ingenuity. It’s just different now.
