Take as many HARD CLASSES you can afford. Your goal should be to be as knowledgable as possible on courses where you can get certs. Certs are what get you hired (in addition to contacts). Go to national conventions for IT, Computer engineers, etc. Join your local IT intrest group. If it doesn't exist make one. Creating and establishing connects with like minded individuals should be your goal.

And when you get a chance fukk bytches. But please don't impregnate anyone unless she is wifey to be.

Good luck young man. :salute:
N1gga, aren't you in medicine though.....

In the Silver Lining
*Takes notes*

I know nothing about this stuff yet I'm interested in learning. :feedme:

I'm going try to take a class or two next semester.
Anybody answer this, lets say you get good at it, what type of part time stuff can you do with coding.
I don't want to stop my job, but I wouldn't mind using any coding talents I might attain to make some guap-amole on the side.

I am, but i'm sure this advice will be useful no matter the profession one wants to attain.
Nah man... well maybe the part about making babies. But you don't just choose difficult stuff in Computer Engineering just cause its hard. There needs to be a purpose. You want to learn how to create and maintain these systems.
Don't just get certifications blindly either, cause it might give you a boost on your resume or linkedin, all it can take is one interview by a person on the technical team to figure out if you're full of shyt.

Well computer science is obviously more than coding, but having a degree in Computer science will likely make you more desirable to employers than just having certs or a less rigorous degree i would think. I could be wrong though, as i've stated previously i'm not in the field.

This is why I love TheColi :mjcry: so many brothers tryna put each other up on game so we can eat :blessed:

I still haven't started yet, but I'm really tryna prepare myself mentally to be dedicated to learning how to code. I'm on the computer all the time, and I've learned through other shyts just how the hard work and dedication can pay off. I don't know much of anything about it though, so it's all overwhelming. All those fukking acronyms:huhldup: I don't know where to start. I hear about these languages and programs, whatever all the time, but I never hear about the math... how much MATH are ya'll putting into this work?

:heh: hell naw there's no math nikka. As long as you can count add, and multiply you gucci.

Unfortunately I can't give you the answer on prgramming (maybe @730BlackMage can chime in) but I'm in information security and I'll tell you how I got on.

I got my first gig in college doing an internship (was part of the course requirment). By then I had already passed my A+, CCNA, and MCP. It was about 2 years of my grinding and trying to get and IT job before I got one :mjcry:

I was doing help desk shyt, but knew I really like servers/networking so I started pursing those certs and trying to get as much experience as I could doing anything around those 2. From there I just picked and chosed where I wanted to work based on either pay or what experience I could get.

I can't speak on developers for the network/server side you don't even need school or a training program. Pass the A+/CCNA/MCP cert and keep applying for entry level IT jobs. You buy the book, study, then take the exam.

Once you get your first gig you can pretty much decide where in IT you want your career to focus on.
I just have to come in and re thank you for this post.

I downloaded this book and have the pdf if anyone wants it. Is this a good one for passing the A+ Certification?
