He's been making music for damn near a decade, whether rapping, instrumental tapes, joke songs for his old comedy troupe, etc etc. He only caught attention from the blogosphere when he did a mixtape rapping over the hottest indie rock songs of the moment, then followed it up with a EP that got buzz and finally got him signed.
