I've reserved my opinions about Kendrick cause I don't want to seem like I'm hating or whatever but he just over raps way too much. It's like sometimes you really gotta let the track breathe.

Thats just a contrast in style. There's nothing wrong with "over rapping" when you got something to say.
It's possible, we just never had many vets still relevant at that age. Honestly the only rapper in his late 40s I can think of that didn't fall off is maybe E40, I'm sure a couple of others slipped my mind.
