the nas / jay friendship, after takeover and ether, has always been a little suspect. these dudes are able to put all those hostilities aside and be friends? especially after ether. come on. jay isn't letting the shyt nas said slide.

It's called maturity.
I think they both recognize each others greatness and how important they are to the game. Jay recognized it in Nas long before the beef because he was a stan who wanted him on songs/name dropped him on random records/banged his wife etc, Nas started to realize it in Jay too not too long ago. Nobody wants to grow old as a salty ass hater like Mc Shan or Kool Moe Dee.
Plus I think Big and Pac's deaths played a major role in it. Yeah we had some dope battles after Big and Pac's death (Bis/LL, Jada/Beans etc) but Jay and Nas were the biggest and most iconic cats to go head to head since Big/Pac.
They wanted to show the world that there was an alternative to senseless death. Not that there beef would have ever went that route, but hey, shyt happens. People have died for much less

it's easy to say that when nas isn't throwing darts at your person. i don't think nas ever made a diss record against memphis, an all too important fact missing from this quote.
