All of the muaic streaming services do the same thing, why are you picking on Tidal?
Actually, no they don't. I released music before and knew when and where it was released from Spotify and sales from iTunes. It's simple tallying.

Well, if Spotify is getting sued, everybody is getting sued :manny:

LOL@your Hov hate though. Dudes find every negative Tidal argument but not a single positive one. You boys are dedicated. I remember the time you said nikkas in Paris was flopping :deadrose:

What are the positive Tidal arguments? I'll wait...

To be fair, this sort of problem isn't exclusive to Tidal. Spotify has had two +$100 million lawsuits filed against them recently. Pandora just settled a similar lawsuit against them last fall for $90 million. As music streaming becomes more popular and lucrative, you're gonna see the streaming companies get sued. To me, this lawsuit doesn't mean Tidal fukked up, it's happening to everybody. These companies gotta manage the allocation of royalties for libraries of 65 million songs. Shyts gonna fall thru the cracks somewhere.

Problem is, if one of the pillars that you founded your company on is being more fair to artists, this is horrible from a PR standpoint, especially when you're trying to sell the company.
Exactly...artists are gonna want their money. And streaming pays so little royalties out to artists anyways...

not a good look at all!!
PR nightmare!!
:sadcam:not what tidal needs right now!!!
It's clickbait sensationalism like @Hood Critic said. And to put this all on Jay is wrong. Jay is an owner of that company and I'm pretty sure that all of the problems aforementioned pretty much fall on the staff of Tidal who deal more intensely with the day to day operations and maintenance. But with Jay's name attached to it, it really is bad PR.

Looks like Tidal wasn't even at fault in the dispute. And they obviously added S. Carter Enterprises into the lawsuit to give Jay added urgency to settle in order to minimize PR damage.

UPDATE: Tidal just issued a statement to Complex about the lawsuit and said that they are up to date on all royalties owed to Yesh Music, LLC.

Statement from TIDAL TIDAL is up to date on all royalties for the rights to the music stated in Yesh Music, LLC and John Emanuele’s claim and they are misinformed as to who, if anyone, owes royalty payments to them. As Yesh Music, LLC admits in their claim, TIDAL has the rights to the Master Recordings through its distributor Tunecore and have paid Tunecore in full for such exploitations. Their dispute appears to be over the mechanical licenses, which we are also up to date on payments via Harry Fox Agency our administrator of mechanical royalties. The main compositions in question were release by The American Dollar and their entire catalogue streamed fewer than 13,000 times on TIDAL and its predecessor over the past year. We have now removed all music associated with Yesh Music, LLC and John Emanuele from the service. This is the first we have heard of this dispute and Yesh Music, LLC should be engaging Harry Fox Agency if they believe they are owed the royalties claimed. They especially should not be naming S Carter Enterprises, LLC, which has nothing to do with Tidal. This claim serves as nothing other than a perfect example of why America needs Tort reform.
