I always liked the beat on the remix of you dont know better than the OG version. That shyt seemed more hype to me

Just Blaze told us, “We knew it was hot, but I wanted to do more with it. I always wanted to make it bigger and better, and make the drums hit harder, and the bass more in your face. I always say to myself, 'I wish I got the opportunity to do that over.'

He did get that opportunity on The Blueprint 2 when Jay-Z commissioned a remix “U Don’t Know” with M.O.P., but the original still stands as the superior cut of the two.

I remember Just Blaze saying in an interview that he went back in and re-did the beat for the remix to make it harder

Always felt like the intro to the remix beat was The way Just set it up and brought it in was legendary.

I remember hearing this, Addicted to the Game & Show U How back to back on Hot 97, and taping the shyt soon as they said new Jay was coming up...Like I remember the EXACT moment they played these joints on the radio, what I was doing, etc...shyt was like a 9/11 moment where you'll never forget where you were when you heard it. At that point, diss tracks aside, I was like mannnn......I think Jay got this shyt, just off heaters alone

God damn this was such a dope Summer/Fall, brehs. Top 5 in my lifetime. fukk. Lowkey, 2001-2003 was like some new age golden age shyt. The amount of material D-Block, G-Unit, Dipset, Roc, and others was putting out, plus all the beef was fukk. I was a freshman in HS too, rushing home every day to hop on Napster and Limewire and shyt, burning the fukk outta stolen blank CDs and fukkin up the phone lines

i need that people's court w/ the different verse the original is one of my favorite jay songs. early this morning had to have sample clearance issues? that would've easily been one of the dopest songs on blueprint and i really like that album. don't u know still remains my favorite and it was actually the first song i ever heard off of the blueprint because they were playing it in baltimore for his album release party.

Me too. That Bleek album was underrated. I always will say that Just Blaze is the best producer for Jay-Z. Even better than Kanye West, Timbo, Neptunes...I might even say better than Premier. They made pretty much perfect music together.

Wasn't this when Just and Alchemist had their little thing where re-did each other's sample flips? I know Just did this after Alchemist did Grimy Way


Before that Just had done Soon You'll Understand for Jay, which was a better song than Hold You Down, but I liked the beat for Hold You Down better.



Then at 2:40 they played both their versions together. really cool.

I remember Jay talking about 'Addicted To The Game', in the June issue of XXL 2001, it was him an Sig on the cover, and Jay was talking about a song with R Kelly called 'The Fiend', which was 'Addicted To The Game', and Beans was talking about how he shoots a pistol, like 'don't breathe keep it lined and even' lol…..

That truly was a summer to be remembered, AVPharoah you remember music the same way I do, that shyt is in my blood and my heart forever….
