Could you relate to Jay when he was talking about Maybach's and the clearport? Jay is the most unrelatable rap superstar there is
I'm not a Jay fan at all but he was rapping about situations we aspire to be in, things that we hope and dream to have someday. So in that sense it was more relatable than raping and murdering our mothers.

I'm a huge fan of both, if we talking about rhymes, both of them right now are still more impressive than most rappers to me. I'm not in a rush to compare what they are doing now to what they did, bottom line is as a student of this shyt I still am eager to hear what they have to say and how they say it.

Jay is less wordy, Em is less witty but both of them have evolved stylistically, especially Em. You can see a decline in song writing but some of the verses/styles he's come with post-hiatus are very unique from the rest of his material, even better in some cases as far as technique goes.

All this "Jay shoulda retired after _____" is nonsense. The nikka can black out whenever he feels like, how the albums shake out depend on what's on his mind, not on his ability to rap.

Nope, Blueprint 3 alone is better than any music EM has dropped in the past 10 years.... Not to mention DDA and I got the Keys shows he can still collab with current artists...

Whats was the last good collab Eminem did with another relevant rapper? Forever?

Relapse >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> By a mile, and I was one of the few that didn't shyt BP3 when it came out.

As for collabo's he's got songs with Big Sean and Kendrick even though I didn't like them that much. The one recent collab I did like was Speedom and I would def call Tech relevant being that he's the most successful independent artist right now and has been for a while.

Recovery is a much better album than Blueprint 3 and MCHG. Jay has not had a song as good as "Seduction" in years. Seduction, No Love, So Bad, Space Bound, 25 to Life, you're never Over, Cinderella Man, and Not afraid are all leaps and bounds better than Jay's modern catalogue. As far as Eminem fell from his prime, he is still lyrically as good as ever and doesn't try to force his relevancy by hopping on modern trends and trying to make trap music. "My swag different. My bag different. I rock tom ford. Timbs we off that:scusthov:"

Jay has done well on a few features here and there but let's call it like it is.

What we talkin bout
Thank You
Already
Nickles and dimes

All very potent joints from those two albums, and I liked a lot of those other cuts too.

The funny thing is, Em was never on. He didn't get play in the hood, didn't get play in the clubs, aint never had a crew, didn't get mixtapes poppin, never had hot 97 or power 105 going crazy...fukka Em. Dude aint a part of real hip hop like that I dont care how many people respect him. He's a fraud, a transplant. Between him and Jay its Jay all day. Everybody from the hood got problems, aint nobody tryin to hear goofy raps and raps about killing your mom and the same old song about a bytch. He can't put it on wax like Jay (and many others).

Nonsense. Don't sit around and front like Eminem didn't pay dues. Dude grinded just like Jay. Everyone struggles and grinds but not everyone's grind is the same.

It's certain songs I could relate to that Em has made and Jay.

Both have made their mark on hip hop.

And as far as Jay falling off. Dude is damn near 50. As long as he's making music be happy. It's not like hes making pure trash be happy he's still making music cause at some point we wont have him anymore.

It isn't like half yall pay for the shyt anyway

You cant relate to Em's music but you can relate to Jay's last albums?
I guess it's true, the coli is full of filthy rich ppl.

Having said that, OP is an idiot

As a nikka from the hood I could relate to Em all too well on a lot of shyt.

Jay was speaking on places where you might have wanted to go but he came out the gate on some mafioso shyt...I grew up in the crack house, I never got the that side of the experience. No champagne, no cigars, nice cars, none of that shyt.

"But I got a daughter to feed, and 200 dollars ain't enough to water the seed"

That's familiar to me, regardless of skin tone.

Only Em album I play from time to time is Relapse because he really went full blown on the sociopath persona and made a fun album that didn't take itself serious along with some dope Dre production :obama:

Miss me with his other albums

That's a general statement. If he rapped about being in an elevator people would be like "ive been in an elevator before."

Its funny cause ive been thinking of em songs I've related too on real nikka shyt like something that resonated with me deeply and i could only scratch the surface with the exact line you mentioned and

"Full of venom and rage, especially when I'm engaged
And my daughter's down to her last diaper, it's got my ass hyper
I pray that God answers, maybe I'll ask nicer"

its not some deep shyt like ya'll dont know about this, its a very general feeling though..jays got that shyt that resonates with real nikkas.

1. To say Jay "fell off" is to say MJ "fell off" or Kobe "fell off". People get old, and rich, and lose drive, etc etc. Point being, everybody falls off in some way shape or form, even Nas is not as ill as he used to be. Jay is 25 years deep in the game, its idiotic to say he fell off and act like you're making a bold statement, no one expects Tim Duncan or Paul Pierce to average 25 per game anymore, I don't expect Jay or any old timer to wow me every single time

2. Even then, you can tell from a number of Jay verses in recent years that he's still got a sharp, albeit worn down and maybe not utilized as much, pen. His verse on Drug Dealers Anonymous is a top 20 verse this year and he's got sprinkled gems througout BP3, WTT, etc

3. Jay definitely did not fall off as hard as Em, who's verses and songs are totally unlistenable unless you're a 13 year old cac who doesn't normally listen to rap

4. And to the usual Em hate brigade in this thread, yes Em was "on" at one point and was not overrated at his peak

Now please let the legends work in peace. It's only in fukking hip hop opinions like these are voiced,

What's your point? There's plenty of dope rappers who don't make club songs or get radio play like that.

And if you would ask if they fell off or if Jay fell off worse, your answer would be that Jay hasn't fell off worse because they weren't ever on.

Could you relate to Jay when he was talking about Maybach's and the clearport? Jay is the most unrelatable rap superstar there is

*sniffs* something.....something don't smell right. Real nikkas know what it is. There are certain topics and things that hit a vein or strike a nerve. People say it all the time, Jay crafted theme songs and soundtracks to what real nikkas were living. You didn't and don't have to be a hustler or a drug dealer or drive a maybach for some of his lyrics to strike that chord within you. Em is different. He reps Detroit but the way he reps Detroit again is like he just lives there and grew up there. Jay is Marcy, Marcy is in Jay.

Em is like the Darius Rucker of Hip hop, he's good, he's talented, he's respected but he isn't allowed in the backrooms. Because he lacks authenticity he can't be compared with someone who is real. Someone who is rooted in realness and has it in their veins. Now if you want to compare him to Drake, go ahead that is more fitting.

Jay has lines, lyrics and songs that just resonate with nikkas. Em has some general crossover points. Anyone can rap about being poor or hungry, wet, cold. But that shyt that seeps into your soul which is what music should do he doesn't have. Maybe its a black and white thing, I hate to say it but maybe it is what it is. Think of Jay's line

"They like the drunk uncle in your family
You know they lame, you feel ashamed
But you love 'em the same"

I think white, black, mexican, chinese- we all may have drunk uncles, but within context I don't think we're talking about the same uncle---does that make sense? You hear that line and look at your nikkas like "You know what it is" If you were to hear that line with a mexican and a white dude I dont think you could look at them as a black dude and you guys all nod like "yep...yup.....you know what he's talking about"

BP3 is an album that grew on me, i was :ld: about it at first but then one night I fell asleep with my headphones on and gained a whole new perspective on it :lolbron: no lie. I love that album now... and truth be told BP3 and WTT is better than anything Em has done in the past 10 years.
