Eminem was in hibernation for like 5 years and during that time Jay was still at the top of the game.

Look I'm not tryna champion one guy over the other. I love them both. I'm sure there are people out there who feel they could make a case for Eminem but when most people think God MC... as in the god of the game... as in the #1 dude in rap... most people, even rappers... will tell you it's Jay.

true, no GOAT ever had 2 really good seasons (not the best season tho) then nothing in any sport... It should also be noted that naS would be nowhere on any GOAT list...

And not only that but he did it on the strength of RAP MUSIC.

Jay been puttin it down for RAP MUSIC for like 15 years now.

How many CLASSIC JOINTS this nikka bless us with over the years. Too many to count. No other nikka had the crown while he was spittin. While every other rapper was weavin in and out of the game Hov remained droppin classics.

While 50 was gettin cacs on the dance floor Hov was actually makin seminal music. Songs you still fukk wit like decades later. Most nikkas get a beat like Dirt Off Your Shoulder and they turn it into some corny shyt. Hov made it a classic song. No gimmicks, no singy hooks... nikka made a classic RAP song. Where dude RAPS on it.

No other rapper's presence is stronger in RAP MUSIC than Jiggas point blank. If you go out somehwere or you go to some nikkas house for a party or some shyt... wherever you go.... no matter WHERE you go... before you go home you're gonna hear a Jay-Z song. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT.

Can't say that about any other rapper.

No matter who came through and went... no matter how much more they dominated in sales.... they never had that same type of presence in the game as Hov did. More sales just means more cac fans anyway.

I'm sorry I'm not tryna cape for the nikka but it's kinda hard to argue that Jay ain't the #1 rapper.

Disagree with 06 and 09. I don't personally think he's the best, but he is a huge force in rap today, and has been since his career started. Period.

From 2002-2005 Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit was RUNNING shyt!..it was the dynasty that Hov NEVER had...

-Though out the whole label, in just a 4 year span they had EIGHT number one albums (The Eminem Show, 8 Mile Soundtrack, Get Rich Or Die Tryin, D-12 World, Encore, The Massacre, Hunger For Me, & The Documentary)
-They had the 3 Invasion compilation mixtapes by DJ Green Lantern that had the hip-hop world BUZZING
-They had the biggest tour with the Anger Management tour
-Em had the biggest movie of the year with 8 Mile
-Damn near EVERY artist on the label from that time went Platnium..gold at the LEAST!
-on the cover of every major hip-hop and music magazine..
-they were RUNNING shyt!

The only 2 people running shyt over at Roc-A-Fella was Hov and Ye...Dipset had that lil run..but it just stayed local....

So...WHAT Dynasty was Hov talking about?....
