“Mommas youngest and strongest
Survive summers like saunas
Mastered the corner like Deion in his uniform”

Jigga >

He had a better flow
better beat
realer raps

Hov but I mean lost tapes shyts on bp2 though
Damn :PGucci:
Y’all serious?? :PPicard:
That would be like me saying Nas’ Makings of a Perfect bytch >>> Jay’s This Can’t Be Life
These songs aren’t in the same stratosphere.
:umad:

Let me add...my first time hearing that Nas song was in this thread and I didn't make it to the 3rd verse. I like Jay's song better
:ohhh:
You never heard Lost Tapes then? :ohhh:
Putting aside all the Nas Jay fukkery on this site, they are both two of the best to ever do it and if you’ve never even checked out Lost Tapes you are fast asleep

Nah...which is crazy cause I've had the album for like 10 years and still never heard it. LOL. I only got it cause of the hype on SOHH and I'm a Nas fan...but just never got around to it :yeshrug:

Nas' My Way and it's not that close IMO.

Jay's My Way is fine and it's a pretty good song. I get what he was going for. It just seems a little formulaic and try-hardish in comparison. Jay was positioning himself as a Frank Sinatara level New York icon with the sample. I get it.

But Nas' song is arguably a top 10 song he's ever made, and the pictures that he paints on that song are so vivid. It sounds so corny to use the word beautiful but Nas' song is genuinely a beautiful and powerful song.

Lost Tapes is probably Nas' 2nd best project after Illmatic, and My Way is a top 3 song on Lost Tapes. Blueprint 2 is not one of Jay's best albums and I Did It My Way is at best a top 5 song on that album.

Jay has better songs in his catalogue where he's conveying the same message and telling the same story.

Edit: let it be I like Jay's catalogue more than Nas' so there's no stannery involved here.

Grandma's favorite, she could not understand
how there's people in the world who wouldn't want me as a neighbor....

That track is so fukking epic.

It's real easy to settle this debate.

If someone asks you to put them onto Nas by giving them a playlist of his top 20 songs, My Way is either going to be on the playlist or you're going to think twice about leaving it off if you do.

If someone asked you to do the same thing for Jay, I don't think that song would be in the top 20 list. It might be close but I bet it wouldn't crack it. And I think most Jay fans would admit this.

And again I like Jay more than Nas.

That Alchemist beat:wow: Those keys:wow:
Nas and Alchemist have made a lot of dope songs together but My Way is probably the best one. Honorable mentions to Book of Rhymes, No Idea's Original, and Tick Tock.

Mama told me from weed, I would switch drugs
To cocaine and hit clubs and deep-dish dubs
How would she know unless she hit the clubs, got her mack-on
Back in the 60's with an afro and her platforms
Bopping to the Supremes, smoking joints
That's cool, but I'ma live how I want

I don’t think it would crack a top 200 list for Jay.
