You'll get clowned on if you presented that to the masses.

Yes I can:mjlol: Everyone is entitled to their opinion on music and I'm entitled on who I deem credible. You're saying your ok if someone lists a top 5 of Bleek, wiz,Lil Zane, soulja boy,and bubba sparks

Yeah, I would. If it's actually a serious list.
Don't think anybody has a list like that though. Very typical argument you're using here.

Again...we give Jay 2 we gotta give Nas 1. IWW is not on that level either.

Not if I qualify my list by emphasising the discography factor

Casuals tend to list Pac, Nas, Em, Jay and Big by default. That's a boring ass and logically inconsistent top 5.
Maybe because its the consensus:mjlol: People that tend to leave those guys out are try to hard to be different ass nikkas.

Consensus sure...but based on what? Notoriety? That's a "big 5" more than a top 5.

If I took each of my artists in my top 5 individually you'd perceive it different than if I lump them together.

If I ask you if Cube is top 5 and you say no....am I supposed to ridicule you? Ghost I can understand perhaps leaving off, but why? He's the most consistently great MC ever. Same with Scarface. Common could be left off but then again I'm sure you respect Ziggiy's opinions and I think Common is in his top 5 too. What about Redman?

My top 5 rewards discography above all else. I think my 5 in question have a mix of the best discography and have a high enough standard of lyricism and songwriting to merit their standing. HOV in fact is teetering on the edge of my top 5 and almost off entirely because of his recent lacklustre output and generally his discog doesn't hold up as well as the others.

You're first sentence is all I need to know about you. Enjoy your day:mjgrin:

:manny:
I'm not expecting anybody to like those names you mentioned just 'cause it's the "consensus".
You can like what you like. I don't care.
But like I said, if one was to present the list of rappers you chose, I would question the seriousness of that persons list.

I'd you don't don't believe NaS isn't top 5 you have zero credibility to me:yeshrug:

I think it's disrespectful to force Nas into a top 5 cemented spot and leave equally deserving artists out but that's just me breh.
:manny:

I'm not saying your list isn't credible. It is. But it's different to mine, based on different criteria or areas of emphasis. In a discography dominated top 5, Nas doesn't belong. Maybe combining lyricism and notoriety and the fact he released Illmatic blah blah...ok that's cool. Top 5. Plus the co-signs he has from other legends speaks for itself. I get it. But not in my top 5.

Anybody who don't got Jay, Nas, Big and PAC as their top 4 is a troll or an idiot. Don't even entertain it.

So you got 3 New York rappers and 1 New York born rapper repping West but transcending regions as your top 4?

Where's respect for the West and South?

This is the problem with that generic ass list.

And yes Em is maybe the most popular rapper ever, he always finds his way into top 5 spots, no matter what this relatively tiny population on Coli island think of him.
