God's Plan
i do think it is a bit annoying the way he's idolized by hip hop and he's one of my fav. rappers of all time. but its like, do we need another reasonable doubt documentary or write up? someone recently posted a thread on de la soul's buhloone mindstate, an album and group ive never listened to, and i checked it out simply to hear about someone different. im not gonna say he's overrated in terms of skill though b/c in his prime, he was one of the greats. better than big btw.

AG was great. WTT wasn't.
WTT is a certified classic. Otis, nikkas In Paris, those were moments, not songs. Who Gon Stop Me, No Church In The Wild, Primetime, Murder To Excellence, H.A.M, New Day, Gotta Have It were all super dope from the beats to the bars, probably the best collaborative album by two goats

The dudes best album wasnt even the top 5 album of 1996

He stayed relevant by keeping with the trends of hip hop at the time, never groundbreaking new original styles (Reasonable Doubt was copying the mafia shyt that Wu set trends for)

Kanye made Blueprint what it what

He never ever rapped about deep shyt, just money and business, thats boring

from 2004 onwards hes been trynna spray lyrics like the young dudes and comes off corny as fukk

If BIG was still alive JAY Z would be nothing more than the weed carrier

Even if youre a Jay stan you know for a fact the dude has the MAXIMUM of two classic albums (RD and Blueprint)

Im just gonna end this here I could go on for days but these facts are enough to let you know that the dude is the most overated of all time ..... dudes only put him in their top 5 to align with popular opinion

edit: dude cried after being burried by nas on radio, live infront of millions

Been saying this for the logest.. Especially about Kanye making the Blueprint, The Blueprint

Jay really only got mainstream once he married Beyonce.. She gave him that crossover appeal

Yeah I finished it breh , it was pretty good album, the 2nd half of the album was better IMO. Party's Over, Shook Ones, Cradle to the Grave best songs on the album imo
Sit with it a for while. Listen to it a couple more times over the next week and see where you are on it. :salute:
It sounds like you liked it enough to want to hear more, but I would try to really sit with the album and absorb it.

Which verses stood out to you?

this is something I can agree with (outside of em being in the generic top 5)...

Pac - first 3 albums were :trash: in my opinion
Big - not enough music to have the claim as a GOAT
Jay - my personal GOAT but does have recent duds in his catalog (BP3, Kingdom Come, Magna Carta)
Nas - every album after Lost Tapes until Life Is Good is VERY overrated on this site
Eminem - :mjlol:

Nah. They are talking about Havoc's brother Killa Black. He was on the run from a murder charge. That's what Temperature's Rising is about. Listen to it again. KB ended up committing suicide.

That was the song that started the Mobb Deep Jay-Z beef.
"Jetted through Marcy, cause D's aint bagging"
Then Jay mentioned it on Streets Is Watching "Where you and your mans hung in every verse in your rhyme.
What did you think of Hav's rhyme on that shyt :demonic:
