Jay-Z said no rapper can do a Verzuz with him because no one is on his level: “There’s not a chance anyone can stand on that stage with me”

Jay can not go hit for hit with anybody any chance of success would come from his album cuts his unreleased joints.

Most of Jay's 'hits' are on weak dated Neptunes and Timbo beats. 99 problems is garbage, shake that dirt off your shoulder is garbage. He has not released a good single since BP1. He would need album cuts because his so called hits look like clout chasing trend hopping sh1t. In fact on his own label there are two artist that would beat him in a versuz.

In the whole of the game he is not in the top 10, he would be embarrassed humbled and exposed kind of like why he doesn't do interviews unless its while on Angie Martinez or Kevin Hart's lap. He is very comfortable carving out a legacy on a pretense, pretenses fool a few but not all.

Dallas, TX
Eminem
Maybe Nas
But no rapper really has that longevity and the hits he put out so it’s not crazy for him to think that

So many delusional people in this thread. Jay is correct. Some might start off strong, but jay has an infinite amount of ammo.

The black album alone would wash most of the responses in this thread.

His fake retirement album. In fact his third fake retirement album.

He released 4 singles all of them duds, had to remix Linkin Park's numb with encore to get any kind of appeal.

Dude's legacy involves paying people backstage for plugs and hook ups and he has continued that formula. The brown paper bag legacy! :russ:

No real merit to this dudes work just a flip flopper. Now he is a God fearing poet before when he was Gwentyh BFF he was an Atheist hustler not rapper.

His whole catalogue reeks of such flaky inconsistencies.

What is a hit? Cause nikka in the thread calling multi plat billboard 100 singles fan favorites, not hits :mjlol:
I literally listed artists billboard 100 songs though, you want to claim deep cuts or regional songs are not big hits and they arent.
Sorry that hurts you.
I would have put a lot more music for TI, Wayne, Kanye, and others if I had as loose definition as you Kendrick and Jay-Z stans have.

Define legit hit? Is victory a hit? Flava in ya ear remix a hit? Put your hands where my eyes can see? Look at me now? The Mariah song, ante up remix
No victory isn't a hit.
It had little airplay and radio play and didn't crack Billboard top 10, on the top 100.
Flava in ya ear (remix) definitely a hit, huge radio play, huge video play, crack top 10 of the billboard 100.
Put your hands where I can see is a black american hit, not a big hit, as it didn't crossover, but black stations and radio played it massively.
What is the mariah song?
Ante up is a regional hit, not a big hit, not a lot of radio play nationally, a lot o video play, didn't chart on black music highly nor top 100.

Ante up is a super-smash hit, far from regional if they are using it in TV adverts in the UK in 2025.

Using a old son in advertisements doesn't mean it was a hit when it came out.
They use it in ads all over the world, cool, still doesn't change the fact it didn't break the charts over in the US on black radio, get airplay nationally, or break deep into the top 100.

You talking pop hit??? Not sure how that translates on a verzuz stage - victory will go off in that setting in my opinion. Mariah I know what you want is a massive hit.

I'm talking a national hit, a hit song.
How would a actual hit not go over well, that is simply stupid rationale.
Hits go off everywhere, for the most part, that is why they are hits.
Now again if you want to say oh, they have other songs that go with them, great, but this conversation is about hit for hit who can go at other artists and when we look at that, some of these artists aren't as untouchable as people think, and some of these artists aren't as big and successful as people think

I can understand that, for sure. A lot of songs are made into hits retrospectively and stuff so a fair point.
