This is why Jay released 4:44…

We watched rappers like him grow up. Sadly, the album went over a lot of heads and people weren’t mentally mature.

If you’re 50 plus still rapping about drugs, stop telling ducktales on the records. There aren’t many drug dealers that made it out the game clean and became a family man.

He was 48 when he dropped 4:44 in 2017, it was long past the point he finally act his age

lol at that album going over anybody’s head

No, it spoke to who it was meant for and was actually pretty well received considering he’s a legacy act now

And Jay still raps about drug dealing even though he’s far removed from that life. It may have been who he once was but to be 50 plus still rapping bout some shyt from the late 80’s is crazy and hypocritical :mjlol:

Y’all young nikkas just be saying anything on here

Ice man will once again be, 'she played me', 'I bag bad bytches', 'she played me again', 'he ain't my friend no mo' repeat
I can tell y'all don't actually listen to the artists you're attempting to speak on with these surface-level critiques.
It leads to the same moral grandstanding, old-head takes we've been receiving from Hov as of late, due to his inability to culturally understand, connect with, and navigate the current hip-hop landscape.

Instead, it's just the same regurgitated surface-level takes which has created a generational divide for most hip-hop media / pundits to even have an intellectual discourse on any relevant hip-hop artists.

It all just looks and sounds like this on repeat

chit I think its very very hard for rappers to "act their age" and to be honest maybe the only one whos truly ever done it is Nas, I mean really really done it- jay started doing it post 2012 to an extent

Oh so tell me when Drake has been much more than surface level, I'll wait.
