See a lot of hate on this forum towards Jay but he's a living legend. One of the most impressive albums (of any genre) from start to finish that I've ever heard. I didn't even post the best songs.

i like vol 1 better. but vol 2 is decent. but very overrated IMO compared to his previous album vol.1
guess its cause of Hard Knock Life song and big sales

Don't understand the hate this album gets. And Im not even a huge jayz fan. I guess it's his IWW. He blew the fukk up and people like to claim they prefer his earlier shyt. Might be true but half the people that say it werent alive when it dropped and the other half didnt hear about jay until vol 2. its a strong album and as good or better than blueprint. Yeah I said it.

Album is filled with all types of hits, although I prefer a cohesive album this album was dope.
On classic "socially conscious song" 1 classic club banger 1 classic street banger 1 classic dope dealing 1 classic fast flow 2 classic story telling tracks 1 classic posse cut 1 classic ballin track 1 classic straight spittin joint and on. Like GRODT in a way.

But as an album I wouldn't rank it as one of those classic albums in the classic sense of the word classic. But in the modern definition it's definitely a classic.

And that's what's crazy. It's not even his best album. You can still play every song off of the album right now, it still sounds :ahh:.
A week ago, It's alright, coming of age. really defines the era of rap (As a NYer).

Vol.2 was a great gateway into hip-hop if you were young around that time.
oh and as much looking back on it now, even if the beats/hooks were iffy, Jay as a rapper was on top form on Vol.3
