I see you didnt show Biggie or naS doing D'Evils level lyricism though. Jay clearly listens to what people have to say. He likely heard people claiming other rappers were LYRICALLY seeing him at that time, when they CLEARLY were not and decided to switch it up... whether you bought the album or not. So he switched it up and didnt give you that intricacy since its not appreciated. He'll still give you a glimpse after RD but not an albums worth, sometimes a song or maybe a couple bars...

"retrospect aint been the same since I lost my dad
he's still alive but still, fukk you dont cross my path"

so subtle yet still so potent and lyrical... nikkaz aint catchin the nuances in Jay's rhymes and its gotta be frustrating for someone to act like "kickin flavor make a nikka dig up in they draws" is lyrically better. RD era Jay is the 2nd best lyricist ever. Only the people dont want to or are incapable of hearing it.

It's been done before by other posters.

I've read your threads.

There's no use in proving my personal bias over your's when you are so convinced by your opinion.

The D'Evils is a dope song, and it's in my iPod but its not touching a majority of at Nas's songs.

The rest of your post is your own personal hyperbole about Jay-Z's talent which I wont entertain.

What's impressive to you may disappoint me and vice versa.

It's good for Jay that you feel he was second best for a whole album.

Right and again you aint showin this alleged "lyricism" if you seen my threads end em by showing that these fukk nikkaz you talkin about are past what Jay has done.

Yes, Jay did it for one album because rap listeners were to dumb to catch it, so he dumbed down for nikkaz like you. Period.

There's no reason for hostility.

I already said that I wished he would have maintained the lyrical consistency that he had on Reasonable Doubt and that I had bought the album.

It was when he was apeing the shiny suit fad on Vol.1 that I started to become disillusioned.

I own his whole catalog.

He dumbed it down for his bank account to become an unlikely pop artist.

Don't get it confused.

Still fact remains he dumbed it down to a level where the other popular rappers are at. He had to get worse at rapping to be on a level with Biggie and naS and them Wu nikkaz... and it worked. That is the point I am making. Jay got "worse" to be on a level with other rappers commercially. So as ol buddy said, he dumbed down the lyrics, but didnt make worse music. If youre like me and you appreciate the elite lyricism shown on RD youre a little disappointed, but you understand why.

My point is, yours and anyone's argument about him dumbing down lyrics holds absolutely no weight since his dumbed down lyrics are at the very least on par with everyone else out. You have to see Lu or 3000 in order make a point.

That's entirely your subjective opinion.

I almost want to say borderline delusion but I don't know you personally to be able to say that.
