Hov is still the goat

My only issue is post 2000 the only time he switched his flow up was on American gangster and that’s is my second favorite Hov album outside of reasonable doubt. He did on 4:44 too.

He didn’t have to do a lot of heavy lifting on WTT or written testimony. Those are great too

You can really tell when he mailed a verse in. A lot of shyt was more him sounding cool than it actually was like on show me what you got and dig a hole. That’s obvious on the bytch don’t kill my vibe remix too when Kendrick washed him

I’ll never forget folks hyping up all the way up verse cause of that one line about lemonade he took from guru smh
Now THIS I agree with...and is part of the reason he isn't the GOAT...Hov benefits a lot from cult of personality.

As a young Millennial I absolutely believe it.

You're your own person. You don't speak for all 90s born people.

I said I checked tik tok myself lol
I literally search Hov and you can filter every topic by most dates, relevance, like count etc

Yeah idk when it clicked. But you can tell when he really tried to style his way out of being the great lyricist that he is A LOT.

But to me it’s like he dropped the blueprint, classic. Then BP2 Classic moments but bloated. That r Kelly shyts whack but has hits then black album great/classic depends on who you ask.

Then KC mid, American gangster (straight fire) then BP3 and Magna Carta mid. Idk man.

He’s still a goat not THEE goat cause even post 2000

Blueprint
Black album
American gangster
WTT
A written testimony
4:44

Are freaking amazing albums to have under your belt. Plus prime Jay was a beast.

Not having a Tiktok surge doesn't mean it isn't getting appreciation. If anything it shouldn't because the age group discussed is not one I recall having a big issue with BP3 in the first place.

Most of the 06 and on hate comes from those who came of age during the 96-03 run. I was 16 when BP3 came out but I was also immersed in 90s rap studying to be great. Someone 3-5 years younger than me has no attachment to Prime Hov to unfavorably compare it to.

KC and MCHG have misses but aren't as bad as people make it out to be. Both are probably about 3 mics...maybe even 3.5. Both would've been much better at 10/11 tracks. Jay and especially Nas get graded on a Mt Rushmore curve. If just about anyone else had the KC-4:44 run it would be celebrated.

This is true too lol. Main point is no one talks about that album.

I remember their being substantial chatter about 4:44, ppl quoting the album the weeks, months, yr after its release

It's been several yrs now ...

He washed em?

Disagree

Jay stayed on theme, his rhyme scheme, flow, etc Think he got em

No, I don't 'member you, I don't intend to
Empty my memory bank
It's a million dollars in it, baby, Hilary Swank
Sittin' next to Hillary smellin' like dank

Nights like this, I could fukk up a pie
An still be straight (still be straight)

:wow:

Felt Kendrick was trying too hard to have a Renegade moment low key

Kendrick was lol

Didn't he add another verse or rework a verse after he heard Jays ? I could be mistaken

What impressed you about Kens verse? Quotables?

AG is easily a 5 mic album

4.5mics at best because the original ignorant shyt was missing... didn't need the new verses at all. I just wanted CD quality over the lower quality Don DeMarco MP3 leak from a few years prior to AG.

4:44 was Jay’s version of Untitled by Nas….A more mature album.

I didn’t expect Jay to keep making braggadocious songs before he turned 50.

I’m glad that Jay took a step back too.

I didn’t want him doing any drill songs
:mjlol:Ima asume you ment life is good
