a lot of single mothers have this weird dynamic where their son is almost like their husband and its a fine line between that and just looking out/vetting your son's girls. she's probably done her job up until this point by instilling the right mindset in her son and schooling him on the pitfalls of choosing the wrong women. I highly doubt Jayden if left to his own devices at this point would knock up a hussy.

I'm not the right person to ask, I moved out at 18, but in college I saw parents doing their kids laundry and they were seniors, many of them traditional wealthy african and chinese families, those kids ended up being lead software engineers or doctors and didn't get married until 30 to other millionaires that were nerds. Basically they didn't really have a social life because of studies, making them socially immature, but it pays off once they become millionaires and more mature. The parents from what I saw, kept them on the right path. I'm doing alright, but I'm no doctor or NFL players that require laser focus and discipline 247. I'm not sure I could do it, fukk a book and fukk a playbook, Keisha come over
And there's tons of kids from Western cultures with more lax parenting (more lax = loosening the reins, not becoming an unavailable deadbeat) once the child becomes 18 and graduate high school that also go on the same path as the kids with ridiculously restrictive parenting.
Btw, there's a wide, WIDE gulf between doing your kids' laundry and trying to manage their sex life. One is something parents of all ethnicities and cultural backgrounds do (those American-as-apple-pie white kids that went home every weekend were doing that partly to get pampered at home), the other is almost incestuous behavior from a narcissistic control freak.

Now I know the son-husband dynamic. Could it be going on here? Maybe but she doesn't seem to be impeding him in any real way. The amount of athletes that get completely gutted during divorce or due to child support. If his mom has an eye for predators let her use it.

At a certain point those guys would’ve pushed back against their mom’s anyways. The best way to reduce the odds of those outcomes is to raise your kids in a stable married two parent household like Steph Curry, Kobe (RIP), Grant Hill and Jordan. It doesn’t appear that Jayden’s parents were ever married so there’s a good chance he’ll fall into the baby mama drama trap.

Let's not re-write history as if Kobe didn't have a major public mess to clean up in his own family life. A man who was built for that life doesn't end up doing the things I mentioned in the first paragraph. My point is athletes and people in general from two parent married households are less likely to make goofy decisions with women. Yeah Kobe had a major public mess up, but I still consider that better than what Anthony Edwards is doing. At least Kobe could move on from it without any attachments. That’s the key difference.
