This is besides the point , a 35 year old recovered from the same injury in 7-8 months. That’s all I was saying

Tatum 27 and can do the same
Come on sham you better than this…. Again proving our point. He is 27 AGAIN NO REASON TO RUSH HIM BACK!!! :snoop:

He’s young so I hope he takes his time with the recovery. It will be all next season + summer and best case scenario is he can be like KD

This is outdated …and Shams tweet is over dramatic

I tore my Achilles 2 years ago. It’s a totally different surgery and rehab than it was 10, 15 years ago. It is not as much of a ‘long rehab’ as people think

The main factor that hurts athletes in Achilles repair isn’t the achilles itself it’s the incision they have to make. It reduces your flexibility, and the bigger the incision, the worse.

This is Kobe’s Achilles incision scar:

This is what a modern Achilles incision scar looks like:

My doctor told me some people can walk right out of surgery. So for Tatum he’s gonna be walking in a week or so, and rehabbing for flexibility almost immediately. NFL RBs need flexibility more than nba players and they come back in 7-8 months. 7-8 months would be around post all all star break so that’s when I would project he comes back. I’d imagine he plays next season to knock the dust off, at like 70-80%, so that he can be closer to 100% for 26-27.

Offensively he’s like KD where he’s so skilled so I think he’ll be fine. Defensively every inch of flexibility counts so he will drop off there

Not saying he’ll absolutely be back next year, but some of you are absolutely brain-dead and don’t realize the medical advances that happen in a ten year time span with you comparing Kobe having an Achilles injury to Tatum.

YOURE THE ONLY BRAIN
DEAD IDIOT IN HERE
CONSIDERING THE ONLY
ONE WHO BROUGHT KOBE UP
WAS POINTING OUT KOBE
CAME BACK IN 8 MONTHS.

KD AND KLAY ARE RECENT EXAMPLES
AND BOTH TOOK ATLEAST 14 MONTHS

You think Jimmy Butler is a number one option.

Quiet down. :mjlol: .

And, advancements and treatments change rapidly. Just because KD was out for 14 months doesn’t mean Tatum will.

Above the fray.
1 ring , 2 Finals appearances and 3 straight ECF appearances was a good run if it ends this year.

He is famously smart with his money, so whether he plays again, or returns close to form or not..... he had a good run.

Tatum supposedly opted for the new/quicker speedier recovery surgery that has allowed some NFL players to come back sooner than the projected 9-12 months (usually 12 months) timeline for athletes. But I don't wanna see him rush shyt.
Cam Akers tore his Achilles with the rams and came back during the same season

It will be interesting to see what happens. Recent Athletes who had achilles tears: Durant came back in 18 months, Klay came back in 14 months (after the achilles not the acl), Richard Sherman came back in 10 months. I don't count Kobe and Aaron Rodgers cuz they were both old:manny: The interesting case is Cam Akers. Her tore his right achilles in july of 2021 and came back for the playoffs 6 months later. Then he tore his left achilles november of 2023 and came back 10 months later. Cam and Aaron Rodgers both had the speedbridge method done just like Tatum.

The most important thing for JT is to let it heal and regain the strength in the calf so that he doesn't have imbalance with his other leg. I think he sits next year. But..... If the Celtics make the playoffs next year and the team is in the second round and looks like they can be a contender, he might come back. That would be scary to go from no basketball straight into the physicality of playoff basketball though.

If Jayson Tatum comes back next season, he has to come back at least early March. Needs those 2 months to shake the cobwebs before the playoffs start. If he comes back late April then I don't know if you put him it that situation where he comes back in high intensity playoff basketball
