Jay is so underrated at this point. I think his ubiquity made people sick of him. The response to mchg was very negative. Add to the belafonte beef, the Barney's thing, and dude probably realised his time as a pop culture net positive was over. Add to feminists hating him while simotaneosly loving his wife, the elevator incident. Tbh, he should bow out gracefully. Its a terrible era in pop culture and real nikkas should bow out and stack on the low.
Heaven, somewhere in America, nickles and dimez are songs that had resonance for me on his last album. Add verses on devils is a lie, seen it all etc. Jay still has it, just that his hard work no excuses mentality isn't what this weak generation wanna hear. Its simps like drake and depressed teenagers like earl. That the emotional comfort these weak generation needs.
This generation rather hear that white people oppressing them. Than be like jay and puff and Percy and just take what younwant from these cacs.
