I was mowing lawns and cutting wood for the house when i was 9 years old.

And kids do need discipline and hard work. My wife went to school in Taiwan. They had a 6-7 day school week. they went to school from 8am to 6pm and they had mandatory study sessions until 10pm. Look at Taiwan's school performance versus America's. The proof is in the pudding.

where I live, the work ethic of East Asia and South Asia has taken over grade school. This area has the best scores in the nation.


I have no problems with child labor, but I would prefer intense schooling.

But just because someone is 7-10 years old doesn't mean they can't put their hands on a fulling plow and start working those fields.

I hate to be the one to be caping for republicans but I doubt he actually meant that the average person needs to work more than 40 hours a week....or maybe he did he's a republican after all. But when you're in the workforce you see how hard it is to come by a full time job these days. Companies will cut any corner to keep a worker part time and not give them enough hours to qualify for benefits. So yes, in that sense people need to work longer hours because coming by a full time job these days is hard as fukk. That's why even though they keep saying the economy is recovering it doesn't feel like it. But then again do I actually expect Jeb to go out there and get these corporations to hire full time like they used to? Hell no

This happens again and again. Instead of having an adult conversation about the real issues, the pundits, politicians, media, etc. decide to twist any statement into a caricature and then attack it. Instead of the adult conversation about underemployment and job force participation, we get "Jeb Bush thinks you're lazy! Vote for me!" or "Click on this link to find out how lazy the Republicans think you are!"

I understand why they do it. But I don't understand why the people fall for it every.damn.time. I assure you: even if Jeb Bush is not your guy (he definitely isn't mine), allowing the discourse to constantly devolve is not doing the people ANY favors. All it ensures is less candidness, more talking points and more more sillyness. For once, just give these people the benefit of the doubt on these slight flubs and lets talk about the real issues.
