I've always found the 'yeah but what are YOU doing to solve poverty' responses enormously irritating.

This man could sell 5 of his houses and use that liquid cash to fund 10 non profits for 20 years. If he sold 3 of his lands he could fund massive operations to eradicate malaria. If he sold 5% of his shares he could house hundreds of homeless people. He can solve problems on a scale that an average person can't.

I can’t bring myself to hate this guy. Amazon employs a lot of people at $15+ an hour. They also successfully put pressure on other companies to raise their wages. They’ve made life more convenient for a lot of people with Prime. People like to talk about the businesses they killed, but they also helped a lot of businesses thrive with their platform.

Should Amazon be taxed more? Sure, but that’s the government’s job to fix that.
