Some of the worst whoopings I got growing up was from my mom.
Low iq parents aren't as capable of reasoning with children.
People like that need to beat their kids, because that's essentially that easily punishment/reward system a person can learn. Its how you domesticate wild animals. carrot or stick.
More intelligent households, have the ability to inspire trust/ confidence/ good morals. Patients simply through their ability to reason and communicate through their emotional connection.
That's my opinion anyway, But its not foolproof. Some kids are smarter than their parents, they don't need to be beaten to understand they made a mistake, take accountability for it , and make corrections.
Some kids are born crash outs and no amount of reason will ever get through to them.

This thread really shows how stupid and disingenuous the average tlr poster is. There hasn’t been one poster who has seriously argued about BEATING any children, yet the posters agreeing with jemele are using that as their baseline for an argument that nobody is making. How hard is it to make your arguments without bad faith? Grow up

I have a five year old daughter and a three year old daughter. These little girls push our buttons. We try to do the, “we won’t strike our children” route.
Sometimes they need to understand, there are consequences to their actions.
I don’t strike out of anger. I explain to them why they get “spankings”. They get a few chances before it happens. The farthest I’ve gone is popping their hand 4 times.
The look in their little eyes.
It has to be done.
They still love their daddy. Plus, I may pop their hand once a week if at all.
