these threads where people pretend their favorite rapper's lyrics is like studying for an aeronautical degree always make me laugh :russ::russ:
JD always talks out his ass so why anybody takes much of his non producer opinions seriously gets me :mjlol::mjlol:

He probably wanted to but was turned down.

According to this article, they were supposed to be on Life In 1472, but we all know that didn't pan out:

Dupri has brought in some high-profile collaborators to help him turn that light on. He is in an Atlanta studio this week laying down some tracks with Snoop Doggy Dogg, Outkast, and Slick Rick. Next month, Dupri will head to New York to work with DMX, Nas, Jay-Z, DJ Premiere, and producer Deric "D-Dot" Angeletti. He also plans to work with Master P for the album.

JD/so so def/etc got WAY MORE play than outkast/dungeon fam.
its not even debatable.

outkast really isnt complex like that either, so i dont know how they got into this discussion. yall force them into everything.

this aint even that serious. JD is just trying to prop up his man.

Jermaine should probably speak for himself....

hes not speaking for himself.

JD got deep east coast roots in the rap game, and hes been messing with nas, jay, big, etc since the '90s.

Sampling Diana Ross was a commercial attempt in the 90's because sampling was the thing. The Hitmen and The Trackmastera were sending songs to the top of the charts basically looping huge hits from the past.
In 2012, that type of sampling was not going to score you air play. Looking back after the Murder Inc. wave in the early '00's and Kanye and Just soul sampling in the mid '00's, it got stale and artists moved on to trap beats.

Then they don't really serve the purpose that you're trying to say it does here. The masses don't hear Nas on those songs unless they bought those albums or downloaded/streamed the songs he was featured on.

please stop.

and it aint just the sampling. its the singing hook as well.
the song was designed it be an attempted radio hit. stop acting like Nas is percee p or somebody.

No they didn't. Jermaine nor Da Brat got more play than Dungeon Family. Even if you throw Bow Wow into the equation, its still an inaccurate statement.

Southernplayalistic was a bigger deal than Funkdafied.

ATLiens
was a bigger deal than Brat's solo and the Bass compilation they put out the same year.

Aquemini goes without saying. Easily bigger than Life in 1472.

Stankonia was a bigger deal than Beware of the Dog.

That's not even counting Still Standing, Soul Food or "Watch For The Hook" by Breeze.

Again, you're stuck on early to mid 2000's singles, R&B hooks and specifically a sampled R&B hook wasn't getting you play in 2012 unless it was Drake doing the crooning or a Chris Brown feature. Case in point, Rick Ross's single "Touch'n You" feat Usher flopping. He also had a single with Nick Minaj that featured her singing that flopped.

you live in atlanta. sorry bro, but outkast's buzz was mid at best. some of these albums werent even on peoples radar. still standing?? LOL.
and youre barely scratching the surface on the stuff JD is responsible for.

r&b on the hook will always be a go-to strategy when pandering to the radio. i didnt say it was always the #1 go-to move. youre trying to move the goal-post on the slick.

Breh, I'm talking globally. Jermaine nor So So Def was on that level. I hope you're not trying to push Jermaine's R&B production into this because that would be laughable.

R&B on the hook will not always be a go to strategy, which completely contradicts your next statement. R&B hooks were played by 2012 and it definitely wasn't a go to strategy.

if youre talking globally outside of hip-hop for outkast, then yes JD's r&b production is eligible for discussion. problem is, you want it to be one way.

im not arguing with you about the other chit anymore. youre wasting time.

Breh, I'm talking Hip Hop. And yes globally, Kast alone>>>> So So Def in terms of Hip Hop. The fact that you would even have to bring JD's R&B production into this proves So So Def wasn't on the same level as Dungeon Family in regard to Hip Hop.
