Same article says she altered her sound, Not JD. Being a laid back rapper ain’t patented by snoop. Growing up listening to her in real time, at no point was I or friends comparing her to snoop. Maybe older people did have that view…I don’t see it. The most I see is JD running with the funk sound that proved to be successful for death row and def squad…Wait hold up. So lemme get this right. At the end of day none of this matters, it’s about the music, master p bit everything from his nickname - ice cream man - to sounds…but he/no limit would set off a verzuz with their hits. And JD’s r&b wasn’t biting shyt, Puff bit plenty of trends/styles as well - I will credit puff with being instrumental in creating looks - uptown artists and shiny suit era were aesthetics he popularized. but when it comes to putting in work on artists’ songs jd > puff, hits is a wash depending on how much you want to credit even the loosest affiliations with tracks, puff is clearly the bigger name but their legacies are comparable to me.
