Thread title says it all.

All this is over an opinion they don't agree with.
an opinion.

think about that before you start talking about choosing the right hills to die on.
They going to jail and marching over differing opinions. not unjust laws, or unfair treatment. Thats wrong hill to die on

he could have a legit problem with Dave tho ... did yall ever consider that?

its not like Dave ain't every white dude's favorite black comic tho :heh:

There PLENTY of black comics who think Dave is just the edgy guy who black audiences dont like.
My problem is, there are coli users, and twitter leftists who try to group Dave's past "corny" c00n humor with his current LGBTQ jokes and stance.
There's plenty of Black Comedians who are fan favorites in the black community who have had actual homophobic jokes.
There's plenty of Black comedians who have come up in the chitlin circuit who have had jokes that were more blatantly homophobic than daves, and yet no one calls them out on it or says that "They're dying on the wrong hill".

But folks know that merely calling Dave out for supposed homophobia won't cut it amongst some black audiences on their side against dave. So they try to group his past c00nery as a reasoning as to why they think black ppl should reconsider being a Chappelle fan. I remember the Twitter threads from Shea Butter twitter highlighting how Chapelle was never funny mostly because all his jokes were based on the White Gaze's view of Black culture. As if Twitter feminist don't exhibit that same 4Chanish, Reddit cac humor with their jokes about "nogs" and "bulletbags". That's why I think the attack on Dave being a c00n is so phony, because it didn't become a widely discussed or debated thing, until he arrived at his Trans subject matter phase of comedy. Now all of a sudden "Yeah, dave been an unfunny c00n. I don't know one Black person who likes him For real."

Chapelle’a focus on trans shyt is weird as fukk, not going to lie….. OR he is just tethering himself to controversy to maintain the hype… because im not cracking up as hard to his new shyt aside from that one he did in LA a few years back and told the OJ stories. The rest of his shyt is just boomer comedy in my opinion…

He isn’t really counter culture anymore…. And is borderline man yelling at clouds status….
Be surprised that a GenX observational comedian does GenX observational jokes. He IS a old man. That's literally what comedy has been for half a decade. The older comedians always rant and rave about modern culture and how they don't understand it. Every all time great comedian went through this phase. For some reason, ppl like Jerrod Carmichael and others are disappointed in this, and using his trans observational jokes as a front for their disappointment. Like he's supposed to evolve into this higher form of high-brow comedian who can tell the "appropriate" trans jokes. Man see's modern culture, man comments on modern culture comedically as he see's fit. That's what comedy has always been.

Y’all going way too deep in it. I’m a fan of DC. I was one of the people who did think, and still think, “Killing Me Softly” was a top 3 standup of all time. All time. His show is right behind in living color as the best of all time….

But these Netflix joints were just not funny. And if we keeping it 100, they have gone downhill with every release. First one was 5 mins on gay shyt. Cool. Second one it’s 20 minutes and I have a trans friend. Ok we get it Dave. Third one is basically the entire show about them, oh my trans friend died, let’s do a rundown of what I said on the first two, hey trannys I love you, but here’s some more jokes.

Like damn my nikka, we get it. No other comedian is spending 3 specials on the same ass topic. Then we see him show up to many more events and shows after that, and he’s still ranting and raving about them… like ok and? All this shyt going on in the world, can we get some JOKES about that instead of social commentary on trannies.

This would be like if Chris Rock was still talking about nikkas vs black people in his 3rd standup.

He got a point in as far as I don't give a damn about none of that shyt so his recent specials been at least 50% :francis:

People trying to front picking sides but during discussions when these shyts were dropping people weren't interested then it became a crusade and now we gotta hold Dave down because he's fighting the agenda :francis:

Dave's legacy without the Netflix specials is top 5. Including those they drag down the average for real. Some real B/B+ efforts if that.

How could he not talk about the LGBT blowback when they are literally trying to shake down companies to de-platform him? You had people bum rushing meetings at Netflix to stop his special. His documentary was dropped from all the film festivals due to LGBTQ activists throwing a fit.

Is he supposed to just ignore all of it?

I think the hill he’s dying on is standing up to cancel culture.

Cancel culture is nothing more than some shyt that cacs came up with to get black people like dave chappelle to fight there battles for them...

Go back to before the #metoo movement when white dudes were getting ran out of hollywood for being sexaul predators...

Go back to before the#pedotoo movement when Kevin Spacey was grabbing teenagers dikks in public and nobody was saying shyt...

Go back to before #dudebrogamertoo movement when white game developers had a fukking part of their office called "the cosby room" where they were touching on women coworkers...

Find me one instance of the phrase cancel culture...

Fine me one instance of the word "woke"...

Dave is standing up to cancel culture...which is nothing more than the rights for cacs to say and do what they want without consequence...

Jerrod a whole weirdo riding his coming out as a gay man wave when anybody who heard the nikka talk for 25 seconds could tell he was gay...but he absolutely right about dave...
