Jerry had a 5 series in the first 2 seasons and he had a Cartier and 3 or 4 different Breitlings. He wasn't broke by any means. He had the 20th Anniversary Mac in the last season. That was $7,000 when that came out.

he's worth that much for the same reason bill cosby is worth like $300M.

they were both co-creators of some of the most popular shows in television history. plus both shows were in heavy syndication with seinfeld still being in heavy syndication to this day.

jerry was making like $1M per episode for the last couple seasons. and he turned down and offer for $5M per episode to keep the show going.

why isn't cosby worth 800 million like Seinfeld?

That NBC money, plus rights to the sydication (its been atleast 20 years on steady syndication), DVD money, plus good investments

A little high but im not too surprised :ld:

Keep in mind...the 800 mill is based on assets like property, ownership to licenses, branding etc...not actual cash on hand...it takes potential into account.

Yep Syndication is the holy grail for any TV show. Which is why a lot of them go on longer than they need to so they can get to that point.

In Seinfelds case. Him and the team were also smart in renegotiating their contracts for the final seasons, so they got at the time the show was airing was like 1 million an episode? But Seinfeld and Larry David were making a lot more than that as creators.

Seinfeld's per-line payday was doubled between the eighth and ninth seasons, while the other characters saw their compensation triple.

Seinfeld, however, had an additional source of income that the others didn't. As one of the show's creators, he gets a cut of the show's lucrative and ongoing syndication deals, which are estimated to have brought in over $3 billion since 1995. Seinfeld's cut comes to about a whopping $400 million over that time period.

Even if we only count the seasons for which we know Jerry's salary, that means that "Seinfeld" has earned him at least $440 million, or about $30,000 for every line he ever delivered on the show.

why isn't cosby worth 800 million like Seinfeld?

cuz the cosby show's run was from 84-92. seinfeld was from 89-98. kinda two different times. also, there was NEVER a point where bill cosby was making over $1M per episode.

seinfeld had better ratings, and seinfeld is in more syndication than the cosby show. cosby used to be in syndication on a lot of channels, but not anymore. and that was even before the shyt with the rape allegations. lately, it was only on nick at night.

meanwhile seinfeld is still syndicated nationally on TBS as well as being on crackle and hulu I believe along with various local channels. on top of that, seinfeld benefitted from being around in the DVD era when they were at the height of their popularity. mad people bought seinfeld box sets in comparision to cosby show box sets.

crazy thing is seinfeld would be a billionaire if he didn't split the bread with larry david.

cosby being work over $300M ain't nothin to laugh at anyways. ain't shyt seinfeld can do cosby can't do anyways.

He should thank god he ever met Larry David. I have a friend who worked for HBO and met them both very frequently and from what he says Larry is way more talented.

larry david was obviously more talented. that's the reason he is the brains behind two of the greatest comedy tv shows in tv history instead of one like seinfeld. he was the creative force behind it all.

CACS say "oh, but he's funny". OK. Martin Lawrence, 10 times funnier, Katt Williams, 10 times funnier, they don't have close to that type of money.

seinfeld is a better show than martin. I'm not gonna debate that. martin has bread, but I'm sure he's lost some to a broad in a divorce along the way. and martin NEVER had a syndication deal at the level of seinfeld.

the syndication deal seinfeld struck is some once in a lifetime shyt. it's NEVER been done in the history of tv.
