Jersey/NY folk: Can yall tell each other apart by accent?

A better question would be can ppl from the boroughs tell each other apart by accent. I can always tell when someone is from brooklyn (son).

It depends on the generation.

The old heads from each borough have a more distinct way of speaking.

But anyone from the mobbing era (2009 - 2012) and younger pretty much all sound the same.

I use the same exact slang as my young bros from Queens and the Bronx.

It's certain words Jersey folks say that give it away. Especially been that pronounce Newark as "Nork"

“Nork” is crazy to me But I think only people from Newark say that. They will correct you too

I’m from Jersey but you can easily tell if someone is from NY cause they’ll usually be wearing timbs and eating a chopped cheese.
