Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Met a lot of chill nikkas from Jersey and Philly.

Is there some kind of rivalry between the two spots or not really?
Almost all rivalries are over exaggerated or trace back to things most nikkas aren’t involved in. Like the crack era and territory or some ish like that or prison beef

I don’t recall a New Yorker in my presence even mentioning club music. I’m willing to bet most of the people I know don’t even know what it is.

Maybe this might be some back in the day stuff. Im 33
There probably is mad people from NY that dont know what club is but these young drill rappers are linking with Jersey producers to make drill songs with club beats. B-Love and 2Rare’s Act Bad song is a good example. They linked up with DJ Swill B from Jersey City. That Barbie song from Nicki and Ice Spice flips into a club beat too when it speeds up. Personally I’m happy club is getting some shine after all these years so idc who’s jacking it but they have to acknowledge where it came from

Only rivalry I know about is football related between the Giants and Eagles. North Jersey is made up of mostly Giants and Cowboys fans. Idk about South Jersey though they may have issues for real.

NJ is a unique state. The state is virtually a suburb from head to toe. Northern Half part of the nyc metro and southern half part of the Philly metro area.

So yes a lot of NJ culture is related to both cities and both sides of NJ root for their respective teams. North - Knicks, Yankees, Mets, Giants.

South - Eagles, Phillies and Sixers.
NJ as a state is very underrated

Due to being sandwiched between NYC and Philly, its distinctive nature gets overlooked.

He's probably talking about the dancing stuff the guys with the chalked hairlines got famous for (2raree?). They say that style of music is very similar to NJ club music. He may be right so they can claim Philly copied that if they want :yeshrug: . I think that will be a short lived fad and was mostly aided by TikTok rather then some real grassroots movement on the ground in Philly. Right now I think Philly is definitely copying Chicago and Detroit, not so much NJ. Alot of this is starting to matter less and less as social media has basically killed regional authenticity

"Our" club music? You mean Jersey and Philly copied Baltimore Club Music.
Yeah they copied our style of club music. We always give props to Baltimore also but the most popular style of club music is jersey club. Baltimore club is dead

Even the dances you see uzi and them do started in Essex county and a lot of NY and Philly rappers use jersey producers

Also there’s a lot of misinformation on NJ in this thread it’s an overlooked state because it’s sandwiched between two big cities and we don’t have any big cities of our own. However folks should def not ask a New Yorker or PA person about NJ they don’t know what they’re talking about :mjlol:

Young rappers all over the country are copying that Detroit off beat flow and production style
The whole drill scene the last few years in Philly, carbon copy of Detroit music

He's talking about some club music shyt. Mind you, this has been going on since last year, lol. Basically, the argument is Philly acts like they invented rapping over club beats when that shyt has been part of North Jersey culture for like 15+ years. Not even the whole North Jersey, mainly in Newark and East Orange. Now everybody wants to act like they been on it since it's the sound right now when they know and we know that was not the case.

Most people in NY and Philly thought club music was just some "weird Jersey shyt" but now everyone is hopping on the wave thanks to Tiktok. Philly really can't even argue against this because a Jersey nikka literally produced the Lil Uzi "I Just Wanna Rock" record, which is their biggest song right now. That's the part a lot of people hate lowkey because they can't debate that fact. That's why you see a lot of young people from Philly going full retard on Twitter talking about "we created this shyt" but they don't even know the history. They hate that a Jersey nikka played a part in their biggest record but they already stamped it before they found out, now they just saying fukk it we pioneered this whole movement lol.
