I don't know what Idzik's gonna do, but why is Francesa acting like Idzik needed to come in, rip the organization that just hired him and then talk as if he'll save 44 years of misery in one presser?

I wasn't gonna walk away feeling better if he gave us Jets fans a rah-rah speech. This is a results oriented business. I'd rather him be the most boring vanilla, "I went to the school of Derek Jeter responses" and produce great results than gas our heads up with goals he knows he can't reach. The best GM's /owners are the ones you don't hear or see from.

This play like a Jet mantra needs to go though.

That said, Idzik talking about tryouts and finding a diamond in the rough at least sounds like he'll value later picks better.

Exactly. Mike's outrage is so manufactured.

Here's the reality; do you pay Revis $16 million a year for the next 6-7 years and hope to retool (and it works out) or do you trade him for a boat load of draft picks and start a rebuild properly (with cheap assets)?

I've always wanted Revis to be a Jet for life but it just doesn't look like it's possible at this time. We're a long time away from being a perennial contender and have a lot of other holes in this team to address (RT, LBs, WRs, RBs, QB...the list goes on).

If Revis says "lets do 10 years $100 mil" it's a no brainer - you keep him. But he's gonna push for Mario Williams money and that's just way too much for a CB.

He's a better way to phrase your question:

do you pay Revis $16 million a year for the next 6-7 years and hope to retool (and it works out) or do you trade him for a boat load of draft picks and start a rebuild properly (with cheap assets) (and hope it works out?)

Jets fans simply don't know and/or don't have faith in this team under Woody Johnson to be able to make those changes happen. God bless Idzik, but I can't find it in me to trust him to deal arguably the best defensive Jet ever, restock the team and have this all turn out well. The Jets have been in this position before. They traded John Abraham. Now, we turned out to be a really good C in Mangold, but they've never replaced Abraham. Knowing this team, we may get something good for Revis, but we'll never truly replace Revis and then next thing you know, we'll have to trade someone else to hopefully fill a deep void at CB.

This can be remedied by finding diamonds in the rough that can contribute, but this team hasn't done this in a very long time.
