Who is this QB that we can get this summer only by acquiring more/better picks from dealing Revis?

EXACTLY.

It certainly isn't coming out of this year's draft. I'm not a fan of many of the qbs coming out this year.

It makes no SENSE for people to even talk QB as if this year's draft was taking care of it.

And the solution is found in the 2013 draft?

:rudy:

Our defense is so much closer to being elite than our offense..yet this draft won't produce a future QB we need.

So I don't GET how trading Revis, who hasn't even said anything about a contract yet, will help.

TRADE DOWN....STOCKPILE PICKS for the 2014 draft which will QB heavy.

Could always consider trading Revis after this years draft for a 2014 first round pick...pretty sure thats what the Pats did with Seymour

Why the hell would we roll the dice on a first round pick without knowing where that pick will end up?

teams do that all the time....Pats did it with Seymour

The chances Revis resigns with the Jets are slim.

And those teams are stupid.

I would never trade a first round pick worthy player to a team whose draft position is uncertain.

That's stupid.

The Pats or any team in the NFL have a unique shut down corner to trade?

I get it. Because you can use the word "trade" all of them are the same.

This is different. A shut down corner is a prized commodity. You trade for CERTAINTY not putting faith into hoping that team sucks.

On Mike and Mike this morning, Brian Billick asserted that this may be part of the overall negotiation process. The Jets know that they do not want to pay Revis the kind of money he's looking for, but Revis thinks he's worth it. The solution, equate the dollar figure Revis wants with other players and trades (i.e. Carson Palmer). Tell Revis' agent that if the Raiders gave up a first and conditional 2d round pick for Carson Palmer, Revis should be worth at least as much and send him on his way to find a trading partner for the Jets. If he finds a team willing to bite, great. If not, well then I guess Revis is not worth as much as Carson Palmer. This also "tests" Revis' claim that he wants to remain a Jet. If he wants to bust the cap with his contract, he could care less about the Jets.

At some point in a player's career he has to balance three goals: 1) money 2) winning 3) staying with your team. Call me cynical but I really do believe that Revis is all about #1 and could care less about the rest. If he wants to win and/or stay with the Jets, he signs a cap friendly deal for less money than he can get elsewhere.

 @ taking less money to play for the biggest joke of a franchise in the league...

If Revis seriously values winning he'll request a trade...
