Here's how the negotiations took place between Fitzpatrick's agent and the Jets GM:

Agent: My client led the team to a 10-6 record...

GM: He's Ryan Fitzpatrick

Agent: Oh... well, he also threw 31 TDs, which would place him top 10 in the NFL.

GM: He's Ryan Fitzpatrick

Agent: With that said we think the market dictates my client gets 15 mill a year...

GM: He's Ryan Fitzpatrick

Agent: Ok since you want to play hard ball, we will go on the market and talk to other teams.

GM: :laff: Go ahead... your client is Ryan Fitzpatrick :laff:

This..... and they gonna have to pay it too.... Chase Daniel didn't even start and got 3 years 21 mil, with 12 million guaranteed.....

I know fitz agent looked at the Jets GM like :childplease: when they made that offer

He was the exact guy i was thinking of.

The league cap keeps growing and QB's keep making more and more, I used to be appalled by Kaepernick's contract, but now I see it's just the way it goes.

I think this is the biggest incentive to draft a young QB, because if he is good, you get a good QB for the first 4 years or so for a bargain.

Instead of paying 18-20m for Bradford, Osweiler and Cousins

The game has changed dude.

Backups are making 7m a year.
How many backups making 7 mill a year?? ...

Not 33 year old ones. :laff:

And ironically speaking, when Fitz bombs this season, that 8 mill a year the Jets are offering will be more than enough for him (according to your logic) since he'll be back to being a high-level second string QB. :mjlol:

You sound like a fukking idiot in this thread. Go play elsewhere. You're embarrassing yourself.

You forgot the other part

Fitzpatrick Agent: Have fun with Geno & Bryce, didn't you just pay out the ass in 2015 Free Agency with a win now mentality.

And that's what it comes down to. You're paying for Fitzpatrick and not having to play Geno or Petty. Geno who we already knows blows and Petty who played in a gimmick offense and a 4th round pick.

That's what I don't get.

Don't you want to see your team do well. I can see not wanting to pay the guy 18m, but to pretend that the Jets aren't on some BS offering the guy 7m, that's just silly.

Fitz is no franchise guy but he clearly is the best option for 2016, and ain't you tryna watch your team win, if it's a reasonable contract

Dude cant throw 30 yards down the field

Falling for a 1 year wonder avg journeyman qb would be typical jets

And outside ne

Fitz didnt perform well vs tms over 500

Last i checked he locked down pretty much every wr this yr besides 1 play from dhop

And sammy 1 game(which was mostly bowles scheme fault )

And didn't revis jus have a pro bowl year playing with a tore ligament?

He was fine for the most part. As was Fitzpatrick. Was only kidding.

But with this veteran offense sitting through a year with a rookie would be painful. The defense isn't good enough to make up for it like it was in 09/10.

You keep saying this to justify playing a shyttier QB. I don't get it.

This also isn't even remotely close to being the current regimes fault.
I keep saying this so that you can by hook or by crook have a chance to get the QB you've been complaining about NOT having your entire life. Next year is inevitable no matter what regime is here.

No matter what you tell @Trip, he will revert back to Fitz being the game changer for the Jets.

Getting the franchise QB is basically luck. From everything Maccagnan ha said to date- it's obvious he realizes they need to continue to draft that position till it happens.
