This Joe Biden hate is looking funny in the light. What is he now that he wasn't when he was Obama's partner in crime? How soon we forget the "clean and articulate" comment from the 2008 election. I'm not really talking about you all per se, this is just an internet forum after all, but more so the media who helped sculpt that cool Uncle Joe persona that made him this lovable off kilter goof of an esteemed statesman.

If feet had been on neck from day 1 he wouldn't be in the position he's in now.
Well in 2007/08 we also didn't have the breadth of democratizing platforms for more stories to be heard, Twitter was just getting started - only 6 million users, facebook was still a place for photos, not news, YouTube was still homemade videos, not a platform for targeted content, etc. Women/women's issues were not a topic of conversation like they have been the past 3-4 years. Pair that with VP's never truly coming under scrutiny unless you're a big outsider like Palin was, what exactly was supposed to happen?

i agree :yeshrug:

obviously jill biden isn't the one to give that message, but if you want to win in 2020 the dems need to stop this apology culture. we're running against one of the biggest pieces of shyt who's ever taken office, who apologizes for nothing and to nobody. there was literally ZERO reason to bring up anita hill going into this election

It wasn't an apology as much as him absolving himself from the situation and not blaming anybody including himself even though he was the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee at the time.

The fact that Black people are taking up for a racist White Man like Joe Biden and his privileged White Wife over a Black Woman (which are one of the most marginalized group in this world), sickens me.

Black folks are trashing Anita Hill just to get Donald Trump out of office.

:francis:

He didn’t really to apologize to her though. He said some shyt like “I’m sorry about what happened to you,” which of course is a non-apology that doesn’t take personal responsibility.

I didn't read her side of the story until now. My post was based on the audio interview in the OP. If he didn't apologize that's not only fukked up but incredibly arrogant/stupid.

edit: She acknowledged that he apologized to her. She wants him to go further and apologize to all women.

Excerpts From Anita Hill’s Interview With The Times

On receiving a call from Biden
STOLBERG: Has he apologized to you?

HILL: Senator Biden and I have had a conversation, and I think he said to me exactly what he has said to the American public. And again, you can describe that as an apology, but what I’m more interested in is what are our leaders going to do in the future. What happens in the future?

STOLBERG: When did you have this conversation?

HILL: It’s been a few weeks ago.

STOLBERG: Did he call you?

HILL: We had a telephone conversation.

STOLBERG: Do you consider it an apology?

HILL: Again, I keep saying this. The focus on an apology to me is one thing. But there needs to be an apology to the other witnesses, and there needs to be an apology to the American public, because we know now how deeply disappointed women all over the country were about what they saw — and not just women. There are women and men now who are just — really have lost confidence in our government to respond to the problem of gender violence.

Typical Bernie bro. What is it with yall always trying to frame other candidates negatively to black people?
Y'all centrist fence-sitting a$$holes have been trying to say Bernie has a black people problem for months. Get the fukk outta here.

In 2016, all Bernie Bros asked was how could I vote for a woman who called black people super predators. Same way they would vote for someone who voted for the crime bill.
JOE BIDEN WROTE THAT BILL.

lol I really dislike yall.
Well that's unfortunate and I'm sorry you feel that way, bytch. When Bernie is president, we're gonna be so smug it will make you sick. Which will be good timing since healthcare will be a right. :umad:

Son, do you realize if this thread was made April 7th your only response to this thread would be "that's not only fukked up but incredibly arrogant/stupid"

The fact that you believe that Joe Biden will win in a landslide is comical to me.

The fact that Progressives like you think Kamala, Yang, or Warren can win in the same climate that elected Trump is comical. Like, ya didn’t learn ya lesson when ya ran Hilary in 2016?

:mjlol:

It don’t matter anyway. Progressives don’t vote. They just all talk n fake outrage.

Ignoring his non-apology apology to Hill how do the Biden supporters, many of whom are always crying about how Susan Sarandon and Jill Stein helped ensure conservative control of the Federal Judiciary, feel about his despicable performances in the hearings that resulted in Thomas and Alito reaching the highest court in the country?

Another shining moment in Biden’s progress in the current presidential term was his conduct in the hearings on Judge Alito’s nomination to the US Supreme Court. From the opening moments of the Judiciary Committee’s sessions in January, 2006, it became clear that Alito faced no serious opposition. On that first ludicrous morning Senator Pat Leahy sank his head into his hands, shaking it in unbelieving despair as Biden blathered out a self-serving and inane monologue lasting a full twenty minutes before he even asked Alito one question. In his allotted half hour Biden managed to pose only five questions, all of them ineptly phrased. He did pose two questions about Alito’s membership of a racist society at Princeton, but had already undercut them in his monologue by calling Alito “a man of integrity”, not once but twice, and further trivialized the interrogation by reaching under the dais to pull out a Princeton cap and put it on.

In all, Biden rambled for 4,000 words, leaving Alito time only to put together less than 1,000. A Delaware newspaper made deadly fun of him for his awful performance, eliciting the revealing confession from Biden that “I made a mistake. I should have gone straight to my question. I was trying to put him at ease.”

"Change," "Hope" … Why They Must be Talking About Joe Biden!

More damningly, Biden not only allowed fellow committee members to mount a sustained barrage of vicious attacks on Hill: he wrapped up the hearings without calling at least two potential witnesses who could have convincingly corroborated Hill’s testimony and, by extension, indicated that the nominee had perjured himself on a sustained basis throughout the hearings. As Mayer and Abramson write, “Hill’s reputation was not foremost among the committee’s worries. The Democrats in general, and Biden in particular, appear to have been far more concerned with their own reputations,” and feared a Republican-stoked public backlash if they aired more details of Thomas’s sexual proclivities. Hill was therefore thrown to the wolves, and America was saddled with a Supreme Court justice of limited legal qualifications and extreme right-wing views (which he had taken pains to deny while under oath).

Fifteen years later, Biden would repeat this exercise in hearings on the Supreme Court nomination of Samuel Alito, yet another grim product of the Republican judicial-selection machinery. True to form, in his opening round of questions, Biden droned on for the better part of half an hour, allowing Alito barely five minutes to explain his views. As the torrent of verbiage washed over the hearing room, fellow Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy could only glower at Biden in impotent frustration.

If you apologized about something that happened 30 yrs ago what more should you be required to do? Jill is just defending her husband like she's supposed to do.

This seems reasonable. But be careful. All the fukkery from the last 30 years are gonna met with this same rationale. "It happened a while ago. He said sorry. Move on."

Remember we gave Hillary hell for speech on the 94 Crime Bill. Don't let Biden get away with "my bad".

Democrats haven't even removed the extremist, racist KKK hood wearing governor named c00nman, take that in. There is a KKK hood wearing governor in 2019, and people have just accepted that. Ypipo are ypipo regardless of party affiliation.

The timing of his apology is totally self-serving but what do you expect his wife to say now that he's campaigning and he's apologized privately and publicly?
