If you're constantly expecting other communities to treat you fairly, you're playing a losing game. The bottom line is you have to build your own community up so strong that you have sufficient resources to make people messing with you think twice.

Hes not wrong when he says blacks should clean up our own communities. Neither was my boy Kendrick. But just like Kendrick, his context of this statement is very wrong. We need to stop this correlation between blacks killing each other and police killing each other. As if we shouldn't expect more from law enforcement than we expect from criminals.
I don't know how any black man can see the police kill so many unarmed people then even part of the blame on his own people.
Differnece is jim has been bout it and a rider for black people for decades. Kendrick is not and pretends to be on record to play a certain angle for props.
He doesnt speak agaisnt white supremacy or do anything they'd ever have a problem with

Lol@ white supremacy. Because Asians, Latinos, Indians, and African immigrants are shooting each other the fukk up, too. Foh. This goddamn website is dedicated to a musical genre that celebrates matey on matey violence, to the point where there are countless threads about how a rapper ain't really about that matey on matey violence life.

You irresponsible ass nikkas is trapped in the fukking Matrix, and these fake ass YouTube pro-blacks are just feeding y'all a bunch of bullshyt. Everyone knows there's a lotta money in telling black folk what they wanna hear. It's easier to slang Doritos than broccoli, you just gotta tell the consumer it ain't they fault for choosing it when they start to get sick.

I disagree with Brown and his approach
Black communities are essentially orderless and lawless because police do not police black communities, they occupy them
Statistics back me up 100%

you didnt answer my question:pachaha:

what you rebutted with only touches on the danger/criminal aspects. and despite what you just said you'd still rather raise children in a middle class community 10 out of 10 times. why is that?:sas1:
Your question has no basis. It's the equivalent of saying you put two kids in a large field and 2 kids in a yard whats gonna happen. Anything can happen it's endless possibilities.

A middle class community can be in the ghetto or just blocks from the ghetto. Again you making silly comments with no logical basis.

Anyone gonna call Jim Brown a c00n? :francis:

At some point people have to stop talking exclusively about white supremacy and discuss what we can do as a community. A lot of the activism going on right now has absolutely no interest in even discussing these issues, and if you dare bring them up they hit you with a collection of talking points about "respectability politics." Nah, I'm talking about community politics. Black lives don't matter to a lot of black men right now. Hell, their own individual lives don't matter to them. Yes most of this revolves around systematic oppression but at what point are we going to organize and at least try to do better.

The Black Panthers set up all types of community services, with far less money than we have now. There's work to be done with after school programs. I volunteer at a Big Brother Big Sister program. I don't live in a predominantly black city but there are a lot of black people here, lots of black kids in the program...and there are only two black men who volunteer. Few black chicks, lots of white men and women, couple Arabs. It's embarrassing.

that point come and gone, black people do and talk about self-empowerment all the time
we need to start recognizing the artificial barriers placed upon us
take "stop and frisk" for example
take our rate of marijuana/petty arrests compared to other groups who smoke it or do the petty things that people do, as much as we do
take the legal system and its statistically proven shenanigans

I am all for self empowerment but yelling out

whenever we examine the state of the hood is a huge mistake in my opinion, in fact I think to do so is to miss the mark on improving the black community; "proper community policing" is the proper outcry that will help improve things.

There's a lot that goes into causing the current status of the black community. Young black men terrorizing the black community is a part of it. You can also talk about racism and poverty and unfairness, etc.

I think the most important factor is knowledge (or the lack thereof). If you wanna talk about the improvement of the black community then you have to study success and failure. Who's succeeding and why? How are they succeeding? Who's failing and why? How are they failing? Then blacks need to stop doing what the failures do and start doing what the successes do. Simpler said than done, but it can be done.

white umbrella privilege is the reason
look at all the groups that came here, were oppressed as foreigners and then got scooped under the white umbrella and the advantages it afforded them. look at how they were doing before they were bought in under the white umbrella, (for example Irish childhood death rates were astonishingly high when they first came to the US because of living conditions and poverty)

there are documented institutional decisions that lead us to where we are right now

Okay. Let's say that I agree with you - are you implying that there is nothing that can feasibly be done to improve the economic and spiritual situations of the black community other than to wait and be accepted underneath the white umbrella?
