They were trying to force the 4-3 on him when he's a 3-4 guy. Only the Lions, a team that has won a single playoff game in the past 57 years, would tell a potential coach that they refuse to let him run his defensive system.

Good hire he was a good coach in Indy.

As a Colts fan i'll never forgive dude for giving away games. A road game at Jax immediately comes to mind. Was the season where they lost to the Jets in the playoffs.

Dude was at best an average head coach. Those Indy teams went as far as Peyton.

They already juggle Suh around the defensive line. He's naturally a DT, but he's played DE for them too. Suh is a monster; he'll be fine anywhere on the line. Fairley is a perfect NT. The system would work in Detroit, they're just run by idiots.

This actually brings up another problem, even if Caldwell somehow repairs Stafford, Caldwell still needs to adres the issue of discipline on the team which was an even bigger problem. Nothing about Caldwell has me immediately convinced that he can do anything about all the penalties the Lions continue to make. Okay, if he can fix Stafford fine, but is he willing to bench Matt if there's no improvement? Caldwell's reign comes with more questions than answers at the moment.

Even with all those penalties and discipline issues the lions woulda been in the layoffs if stafford played well last year.
