I agree, if I'm correct in my assessment that "transformative" in Jim's context means "changed the way the game was played". Larry was one of the greatest (on the short list, imo) - but he was very in the pocket as far as what a prototype SF was.

Same with Kobe. As mentioned he was a son of somebody else who was "transformative".
As is Wade.

:dwillhuh:

Bird was anything but. In fact, you could argue he "changed the way the game was played" more than Magic did.

what I said is new to yall??

internet dudes.
We're all on the internet.

Pound for pound is for boxing, not basketball.

As far as Iverson over Wade, not many people are making that argument any more given Wade's combination of offense, defense, and overall success.

1.) you know what im saying
2.) the term is used in basketball. usually for the smaller guys.
3.) maybe in your circles, that argument isn't made anymore.
only thing wade got Iverson on is defense - as he should, given the size factor.
overall success?? wade played on way better teams.

wade is overrated. i'll take Drexler over him.

I went back and looked over some Larry Bird footage today.Came away thinking he's actually underrated.I know that sounds crazy, but the guy was a pure baller.A cotdamn natural. If u told me he was top 3 all time, I wouldn't think u was crazy. The shyt he was doing at 6'10 was bananas. His IQ/feel for the game was unreal.Bordering on clairvoyance

Bird and Magics fans are old as fukk b lol. you not gonna tell me their fanbases are as rabid as MJ/Kobe/Bron type of fans. And btw i just said "just as big if not bigger" I wasn't saying definitely it was bigger. Larry got the white fans but Kobe has the obscene level of fans in China to balance that out. Kobe is damn near Yao levels out there.
Don’t nobody give a Fukk about China.

AI is my favorite player of all-time....But I can't even cosign this.

aside from playing on better teams, kobe never separated himself from the iversons & mcgradys.

this whole debate that started up a year or two ago, forcing him into discussions with people like Jordan & LeBron is preposterous.
