NYC dominated hip hop from the beginnings to the end of the 90's. Putting the downfall of NY hip hop on one label is silly. Same as blaming it on 50 for dissin people. NYC rappers and producers just aren't putting out the product like they did in the 80's and 90's. There was so much talent back then.

80's - Kurtis Blow, The Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Run-DMC, Whodini, The Fat Boys, LL Cool J, Eric B. & Rakim, KRS-1, Kane, Slick Rick, EPMD, MC Lyte, Kool G Rap, Shan, Roxanne Shante, Stetsasonic, Latifah, Salt & Pepa, Kid & Play, Doug E. Fresh, Biz, ATCQ, to name a few.

90's - Redman, BIG, Wu-Tang, Nas, Jay-Z, Jeru, AZ, Foxy, Lil Kim, Nore, The Fugees, Busta, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, DMX, Pun, to name a few.

2000's - 50 Cent, Fabolous, Nikki Minaj and uhhh :francis:

I don't know what happened to all the talent coming out of NYC. Laziness? Indifference? I don't know. But the fall off has little to do with the downfall of Rocafella.

It's almost like most artist run/boutique labels are here for a good time not a long time. Whether it's Death Row, Ruff Ryders or Rocafella they burn brightly for a 2-5 year period and taper off.

From the 90s, Bad Boy probably had the longest "run" out of all these labels with hits ranging from 94(BIG, etc) to early 2010s(Diddy Dirty Money) and that's not even consistent.

Yeah because they're basically a crew centered around one hot artist or a group of artist. They have the life cycle of how hot that artist is in the mainstream.......

Why he bring up that reggaeton album by nore? To showcase the label’s many styles? Wasn’t nobody paying no attention to that’s album from nore; shyt, fans Roc want even paying attention to Nore’s “1 fan a day album” that was suppose to be released on roc a fella records :heh:

It ain’t even worth noting that reggaeton album Nore dropped because the shyt had no impact at all :mjlol:
