You're ignoring what the market is. Think about what the Vikings gave up for Sam Bradford and the Rams to get Goff. Jimmy G is clearly better than both of those guys at this point. People comparing this to other Pats QBs have never watched those guys in New England. Jimmy G is the only one of those guys where you're like "you know what, if Brady retires and this is our future, we're good with that." He has all of the tools. Cassel was able to be schemed around in New England and KC. He never had the arm, accuracy, and ability to read defenses quickly. Rodgers wasn't available to trade for like you said because the Packers were moving on from Favre. TThe other guys were drafted to be Brady's back up. Jimmy was drafted to replace him. Again, if you're a team that needs a QB, JImmy G is better than any QB you would spend a high round pick on in this draft, last year's draft, and probably the draft after that.
If McDaniels takes the Jacksonville job, how can the Jaguars not trade for Jimmy G with those offensive weapons? It would be stupid not to.
I'm not ignoring what the market is
Im saying its a shytty idea. I have said so when bradford was traded, when picks for goff were exchanged, picks for cutler, picks for palmer, picks for rgIII. all those, I was saying its dumb right away.
the problem here is that you think the market is end of it all when the real thing is playing for VALUE. stock players dont buy at market value, they sell high and they buy low.
the gms in the league, have proven to be blinded by qb thirst, and keep making the same mistake, time and time and time again.
what you're saying is that they know better. what Im saying is no, they dont know any better. thats they keep playing the qb sweepstakes and wasting draft picks like idiots
pats know grap's strengths and weaknesses better than anyone, and a smart org- again, consistently with your views- will not let go of a qb for less value than they're worth. so why are pats willing to trade him then if hes worth as much or more ? it would make NO sense from that point. if he was drafted to replace brady, why arent they keeping him like GB kept rodgers, like SD did rivers, and so on ?
its easy - pats know hes not the future, and they want to get VALUE out of the deal.
thats what smart orgs do.
the dumb orgs fap to random qbs shell out the future betting on a lottery ticket and then are left with jack shyt. then they, like you, point to the market and try to justify their failures.
fukk the market value. if I dont think as player is worth the money, I wont pay him the money. doesnt matter what other comparable players are getting. and I will be right in majority of situations.
