Skit was poorly written and executed but whatever. I watch twitch streams all the time for various reasons. Sometimes the streamer is just really entertaining with commentary, sometimes I just want to see someone play a game at a really high level, sometimes I want to see the hype in a new game without buying it first. Some people rock with it some don't.

If gamers really objectively stepped back and looked at what they were doing: spending 10+ hours a week watching streams of video games, then that to me is kind of ridiculous. That's kind of Jimmy's point. If you love playing video games, then why spend so much time watching others?

Now if you want to watch video games because you legit like watching people play, then that's understandable. But I think some gamers fool themselves into thinking they get better at the game by watching other people. But in reality you gotta put in work and unless you've reached a certain very high level, you're not doing any favors by just watching people. Your muscle memory and ability to think quick aren't improving watching other people as much as it would being on the game.

Same cats will then start blaming other people in games for not being good, when it's them who could actually use those 10 hours of watching per week to get better at the game. Watching people shoot jump shots doesn't make your jump shot better.

I watch youtube videos of fighting games to get better.:francis: I have an iPad with a video running while I'm in training mode so what are you talking about here.

Why watch the Food Network when you can prepare a meal yourself? :troll:

Well if you want to learn strategy and possibly some counters that's fine, but sometimes people watch a little too much and there is a point of diminishing returns. If you spend too much time watching videos, that you now have mechanics problems and now drop combos because you're not practicing that enough, that's counter productive.

people watch other people play poker on TV. they also watch fake-ass pro wrestling :mjlol:

do your thing. but given that, it's seems pretty off-base to say people failed at parenting because kids watch video games streams

well with sports it represent your race/culture, city and/or your college....and what you stand for. gamers don't really represent anyone so that is the only odd part if you will.

it's a different type of entertainment, but it is valid entertainment. it's no different than ESPN world series of poker.

I know some are caking, I'm moreso talking about the cats who aren't. Some dudes aren't anywhere close to that number in subs and are full-time streamers, literally depending on donations/subs to pay their bills.

it takes time to build a following....and people have different marketing skill levels. honestly, some people are afraid to sell themselves and think it will come naturally, which is not the case when ya late to any type of social media. You have to go get people....gotta pound twitter and Instagram for marketing.

i don't think these people ever played a pc game. you could watch others in the 90's do their thing in-game in first person shooters to learn some things and be entertained with skill.

anyways throw in some personality and you have something going. just entertainment snobs and career snobs bashing video game streaming. it's like people that think teachers should make more than athletes when teachers don't have fans lined up in their classroom to warrant pay from advertisers, lol.

Good post but the national aspect comes into play a lot in CS, LoL etc.
