You're assuming no change in the way America approaches economics...Nothing good is going to come from automation in America. This isn't Switzerland.
In my world, we shouldn't work more than 6 hours a week. But you know most folks in the this country aren't goingsome famous economist (his name escapes my mind) predicted we would all learn how to maintain the automation and machinery and only work like 15 hours a week
It doesn't have to be all doom and gloom. All it takes is a radical shift of economic and social systems. Full automation can be a very good thing for human beings.
The Venus Project has really good ideas. Obviously it has flaws and shortcomings, but at least it's proposing relatively great alternatives.
Think of driverless buses and trains. These are millions of jobs that will be gone. What happens to those folks?Just something in the paper today that robots may soon replace fast food workers.
