Job Corps closing?

I have a family friend that just left a Job Corps in NY. He told me this morning he was on a group chat with his friends and they were told to all pack up and leave today. They will send them to their home/relative or barring that a homeless shelter if there is no where else.
I almost went to Job Corps. I knew a bunch of dusty Job corp drop outs so I didn’t know how helpful the program was.

I didn’t get the full Job Corp experience. I drove there everyday. I did not stay on campus. I always heard stories that after I left for the day and drove back to the Burbs shyt was off the fukking chain.I went to Little Rock Job Corps back in the early 00s
That shyt was wild.
That’s the thing you have to focused and most where not.
I know a lot of people who just got their GED’s and bounced.
They’re really gonna have to start pushing the military to kids nowadays.

I was a commo dude in the Army. I could basically do my job but I wasn’t good at the technical aspects either. I got sild into the operations side and then Admin and Logistics which I was good at.
I had some civvy Budget jobs but I had a Quality Assurance job for the Navy that I was in no way qualified for. I only got the job because I was a disabled Veteran.

I went to Job Corps it's a overall good program but a lot of the "trainees" not trannies for JBO cats but "trainees" don't take it serious. They range in age from 16-24. It's like a 50/50 mix of people who actually want to learn and get a trade skill while the other half their parents just wanted them out the house/apartment or they had no where else to live. A lot of fighting, drama, and reckless behavior but you also have a special batch of young folk who do well in the program and is able to escape generational poverty.
