My friend was at the end of her wits trying to get a job. One employer interviewed her then told her she had no experience that she should get an internship.
She being frustrated told the lady, really, you want someone who may be more advance in their skill at this job then you. Someone after a year is going to gun for your job and put you in my position now because she is hungrier than you. Instead of hiring me, becoming my mentor, teach me the real trade and will have your back and we all can eat. Thanks.
She was hired for that position and is doing really well.
I remember graduating from college and being unemployed and the job struggle. I tend to try to hire black males and older individuals, because they work better with my clientele. I don't have the drama with men like I do women when dealing with my clients. Due to my job, you HAVE to have a clean record, no way around it, state requirement. Let me say this, keep those background clean. I've had good applicants but when that background check comes back...I can't.
I think it is a sad state of affairs when I start the interview like, have you ever been arrested, have you ever been in jail, have you had a situation where you ended up in handcuffs or in the back of a police car with and without handcuffs. Are you sure, better tell me right now. Also, if you fall under the Sunshine law or can get that shyt expunged, then please do. . Because it is basically a waste of my time to interview you when I cannot hire you.
