yes asking to meet someone for coffee is always a good move. Keeps things casual, easier to disarm someone...people are generally comfortable when theyre having coffee.

It sucks for a lot of people because companies have such a large pool to choose from and they set their standards HIGH...

But this will be worse for the country in the long run because all these young folks are 22-32 cannot gain the experience needed to actually take on many of the jobs out there and it is holding everything behind... Old folks still working, retiring later, and less space for the young people...

At the same time, it is forcing people in this age bracket to get creative, our generation, "The Millennials"(16-32), could end up being the most innovative generation to come about because of this..

I got my degree in Economics and was working consulting for a couple years... I recently just quit my job and am writing a business plan... In the mean time I've been using my other skills as an asset to stack money on the side... You can't wait for anything unless you are a cream of the crop top talent.

At this point You have to get it on your own. It is hard, but find the assets that make you talented (aside from being a good company drone) and go use it to make your own money...

This. I couldn't hack it myself in the working world so now I sit my lazy ass at home all day to get paid.

How do you people without jobs live? Parents?

I have a cool ass job but I dont expect it to last forever. The biggest dream for most people is to get a good job but that can be taken away at any moment. You should get creative and figure out ways to make money on your own, legally.

Its a cold game out there. The old heads don't want to (or can't retire) so the natural job succession aint happening at its normal rate. These baby boomers just wont leave the workforce, so the candidate pool is way too large.

Healthcare is always hiring. IT related gigs are always hiring.

Some of you guys with no applicable skills need to either take up programming/coding or some kind of trade that you can survive on.

I wouldn't advocate lying heavily on your résumé lol, it depends on the position.
If its entry level than hell yeah lie on that shyt, they going to train you anyway, and there is always learning opportunities and training opportunites once you get the job.

Only real skill I have is artistic ability (I draw my own comic/manga, plus I can draw pretty much anything in front of me, not to mention I can write stories and scripts as well)...but no ones looking for that...I make a few bucks every now and then off of drawing and illustrating, but nothing substantial. People be wanting graphics more often (which I can also do, but to a lot lesser degree. I'm more of the pencil/pen paper type of guy)...idk maybe I should just practice more graphic shyt once I get a new laptop...:yeshrug:

What are some good side hustles? I just got a second job, but idk how much it will pay. I need ideas on what else I can do.

I hate the fact i'm going to be working close to 70 hrs a week now and my drug dealing roommate sleeps all day and must be making at least double what I am the way he seems to ball. FML

no offense, but those are low-level, low-paying jobs. just lie on ur resume about your experience. They'll train you on the job anyways.

Best Buy asked for references and McDonalds ask if it's ok to contact your former employer. At first I put no but then I started putting yes since I thought that was probably the case they never replied back.

I know they're low paying but I need a job that I can keep while going to school.

I'm in the process of switching careers too well kinda into a different field from where I'm at. Its definitely hard out there trying to get a gig that requires so much for the position even for an entry level position. Been on the networking shyt but haven't crossed by any leads yet. I'm trying to stay optimistic, hopefully something happens soon.

I'm trying to work in Television breh and its stressful. Keep your head up though and don't stop contacting the leads you already have you'll never know where they might take you

Since u have experience in carpentry u should try that route. Save up to get your trade license. You can make some good money doing contract work. I work at a home improvement store and those who know how to hustle make good money. Be your own boss and control your own future. The main thing besides the job is to save and look into getting some type of health insurance. Where I'm from if you make under a certain amount the county provides health coverage if you sign up for it. Not the bet but its better then nothing.

Thanks for the advice but I'm a student. This upcoming semester is my last one. Those manual labor jobs I can only keep for so long. That first carpentry job was after high school. I took a year off from school. The other construction jobs have been during weekends here and there and in the summer.

Some of these retails stores don't even value that :smh:

Thanks nonetheless

Stop and switch career paths before you waste anymore time. Working in television is not worth it. The hours and pay are fukking atrocious.
