I just don't understand how some of you are attacking joe personally for his OPINION like he said something super outlandish.

A good percentage of the hip hop audience that's familiar with jay e shares similar sentiment.

Now him saying jay e was washed by jay is him attacking back for feeling attacked. He went to the extreme to defend himself.

Dude just feels this was not a "proper" jay e debut album. He wanted to hear MORE jay e

They both got in their feelings..

It's because Joe has never approached any of his music with any art. It was always cheap beats, cheap mixes, flavor of the month ESPN punchlines and maybe an overlong moody "introspective joint" with some emo vocal sample

This album is art. We are free to disagree with the way it's put together, but it's not a typical rap album and it's not a typical debut. The content here is timeless, the references are timeless, and production is deliberately minimal so the vibes and mood shines.

It's not the album everyone wants and it's not right for every mood, but there's really a lack of music like this right now, where else are we hearing this message? This is not a lyrical contest, they're trying to speak on topics rarely spoken on anymore, and they're shedding light on a part of the culture that's been buried in recent years

So for Joe to use his platform to have the most shallow, basic take on an artist with 100 times more of the vision and integrity than he has, is disappointing. And he sounds bitter that his career didn't play out the same way

You went off on a tangent and didn't address the issue at all(too much jay z)..lol.

Y'all are attacking joe just because he's a know quantity. Others online have shared similar sentiment. This is normally not how debut albums are done. Not only that, the album is short. The criticism is not off base. Some of you need to acknowledge that. And this is coming from someone that actually bought the album on iTunes

Most of the people don’t like Joe. Wish I understand. But he said nothing wrong or outlandish about this album.

So when Joe has cheap beats and cheap mixes (which he did have a lot of) it's because he doesn't respect the art. When Jay Elec does it then it's because he's trying to be deliberately minimal so the vibes and mood shines??? This the type of bullshyt excuses that's annoying about fans trying to hype Jay Elec. I see this as somebody that loves the album because I don't mind an MC with weak production if they're killing it lyrically and speaking on real shyt. That's also why I'm a big fan of Joe as well.

When Joe was making his "mood music" hardly anybody was speaking on those types of topics either. shyt probably half of Joe's catalog is speaking on relationships, drug use, kids, and dealing with his psychological issues. Both MCs have great content.

This nikka Jay Elect would just be another dude without Hov’s co-sign.

I’ve never seen someone with such a small body of work get so much clout in the industry.

If anything he’s validating Joe’s criticism in the first place. Joe isn’t the only person critiquing his album.

some of y’all treating this dude like he’s Nas or Lupe or something. :mjlol:
Lol at Nas or Lupe.
Lupe maybe but don’t put any of their names in the same sentence as Nas :hhh:

And he would be exactly who he is with or without Hov , he was at his hottest before Hov. Before Jay, Puff and Nas were waiting for him and his fan base since then is pretty much the same.

:duck: Dude was scared to drop a project cause of the hype. Only to have Hov carry him. Not saying he isn’t good but he’s overhyped and people talk about him like he’s a pioneer or something.

Spot on

The album is art from the packaging, to the content and lyricism, to the minimalist production. A breath of fresh air in this climate. It should be judged on its merit not it being Jay Electronica’s debut and being a showcase of his lyrical abilities.
